I watched religiously and loved it ever since season 3. I read the books and looked into the background stories because I loved it so much.

After years, all I will ever remember looking back on those amazing television seasons is how BAD the last season ruined it.

That is all I will recall about the show. They poisoned it

Will never watch again!
Not even season 1 thru 7, which I watched numerous times.

Has anyone had any desire to go back and watch any of it?

I subscribe to HBO Now, but still downloaded the shows to put on my Plex server. I haven't been able to bring myself to download episodes 4-6 of season 8 and probably never will. Why would I watch that garbage again? I did start the books though. I'm currently on A Storm of Swords (season 3ish).

Same here. The character arcs followed for years that fell to meaningless pieces make it now just unsavory.

Like having to deal with a shitty psycho ex-gf but without the sex part.

It has somehow gotten worse in my mind from the time it ended until now.

I rewatch LOTS of tv. I always have something on in the background. Knowing how it ends, I have zero interest in watching it again and I liked every season up until the last. The last was such a pile of filth it has killed rewatchability for me.

In fairness, I've rewatched the series almost every year so I am already burned out on rewatch and I have zero interest in ever watching the last season again. Zero. That won't change over time.

I'm just fatigued from the run-up to Season 8. I'll probably rewatch Seasons 1-7 within a year or two, but I'm staying far away from Season 8. I'm just going to trick my brain into thinking that the show ended in Season 7, so that I don't remind myself that D&D absolutely shite on themselves at the finish line.

GRRM needs to finish the books. I was not a book reader, until the end of Season 8. I decided to go out and read the books in hope of getting a better ending for the story. GRRM is now like Betty White, an asset that we must protect at all cost.

I went back and re-watched the first season, because I knew it HAD TO have been great, but wanted to see exactly how bad things had gotten.

But yeah, after that...I just can't see ever re-watching the whole series again after the way it all ended.

I had rewatched 1-7 before 8 was released, then rewatched 8 a few weeks after to confirm if it was as bad as I originally thought.

I had started on the books before season 8, finished the first and second, and had started on the third as season 8 was released. I haven't picked up the book since, seems pointless to even continue. About once a month I try to start the third book again but just can't get excited about it.

GRRM will most likely land the plane successfully. If not, we riot.

Because she is A: female, and B: somewhat left leaning, people will froth at the mouth over my suggest of looking at Lindsey Ellis giving her thoughts of the finale of GoT.

LINK

The main point she brings up, and it is a Yuge, absolutely yuge, one is that everything that happens only makes sense is if you are writing backwards.

Meaning that you know the end and you are trying to get there. Even if it means handing everyone the idiot ball.

As an example... we want to position Sansa as this brilliant person so we will have her condemning Daenerys even though the only thing Dany had done to that point was save her adopted sibling and bring a huge army to save the North from the White Walkers.

That way when Dany does go batshit crazy out of nowhere everyone can see that Sansa is this amazing and brilliant person. It is writing backwards. We need to character X here so we will start from there and write backwards to try and justify how she got there.

Here is a hint. It doesn't work.

Not me. I've seen the first 4-5 seasons a few times already. Season 8 was such a letdown I just wanna let it go.

Why? sounds boring. Arya should have finishe doff her list and died somehow. probably killed by the night king.

I like plenty of her stuff but she is more than left leaning. I love her evisceration of the hobbit movies.

Having said that, I didn't even finish her late to the show thrones takedown.

I’ll definitely rewatch at some point. It will probably be a little while, though.

A bad ending stays with you; kills a lot of desire to rewatch shows because you know the direction it is heading.

Shows that don't have an over arching plot can get away with it; shows that do have one have to build to that payoff. It can kill a desire to watch it.

Besides the ending being really terrible, I get even more pissed off with every unfinished situation left dangling. I realize a new one each day, it seems.

Really poor execution. They should redo the last couple of seasons. It would be appreciated.
