104.5 Aranda told by coaching buddy he needs to evolve

A coaching buddy from up north talked to Aranda, noted that he needs to evolve with the game, too many people now have tape of his years coaching.
LSU was strong against the pass but weak against the run last year. It was noted this is a critical year for Aranda, it’s the first time Aranda has coached four years at any school. Expect changes in LSU’s defense this year, more rush and disruption up front.
Aranda wants to show he can evolve and improve. Interesting that both offense and defensive coaches at LSU are evolving making dramatic changes in the same year.

Coach O got on his arse and told him to ship up or ship out

I hope we get more TFL, sacks, fumbles with a more aggressive front.

'needs to evolve' is too strong
More like 'make sure as heck, to continue to reinforce the 90% that you do better than everybody and prioritize emphasis on the other 10%'

Interesting take. And it was Tom Herman as OC of Ohio State who beat Wisconsin 59-0 in '14 (with Aranda at DC). That said, it was more likely Cardale Jones' sandlot offense that killed Wisconsin (with one weeks practice after Barrett was injured), more than anything Herman did.

The scoring defense was still pretty good last year. I think Aranda was concerned with the running D. I have faith in him.

Obviously that's not true. But I do think O told him he wants a more disruptive DL, not just guys eating up blocks

I think Aranda is concerned about facing Herman, someone who knows his schemes well. Aranda wants to bring Herman a surprise, something he doesn’t expect when LSU plays Texas.

I just looked up this game summary. Wisky’s quarterback threw three interceptions and Ohio St. trotted our there a little known back by the name of Ezekiel Elliot. The previous two seasons (Aranda’s and Herman’s first two years at both schools) Ohio St. barely survived and were held in check relative to what people were used to seeing Ohio St. do.
I think, much like LSU vs Alabama, if Wisconsin had something even resembling an offense in those games, they’d have won at least one of em and maybe two of em. Aranda has been unlucky thus far in his career in the sense that he’s been wedded to bad offenses year in and year out so his defense is always on the field.
There’s only one coach that seemingly gives Aranda fits, and that’s creepy Dan Mullen.

so do I. I have always thought we should be more aggressive defensively with the secondary we have. Take some more chances and force more turnovers.

I think this is more recruiting than scheme.

You can still
Have disruptive D-linemen in a 3-4 scheme. Not all 3-4’s are the same.

Well, Coach Eaux did graduate from Northwestern St and coached at Arkansas and Syracuse. That counts as "up north" in my book.

Aranda has evolved w the game amazingly well.
His Achilles heel is not the new stuff, the old power game gets him occasionally

Don’t be dense. It was probably the current Wisc D coordinator reaching out to a friend or another coaching buddy on vacation.
I’m not saying O doesn’t press his coaches to evolve and improve every year

Aranda is a brilliant strategist and he's not a one trick pony. One of his best attributes is in game adjustments. This is the most complete D he's had since being at LSU and I fully expect Aranda to let the dogs loose. I think he will be much more aggressive and with playmakers at each level we can anticipate exotic pressure packages.
Brady told fans to get your popcorn ready for the offense, but I think it's Aranda's D that's going to be putting on a show.
