Right.
It was a lie designed to shrink the distance what he thought was going to be his opponent in John Kennedy who was and still is pushing work requirements for medicaid.
Also it was an effort to bait Republican legislators into putting themselves in the position of being grinches who stole away poor people’s health insurance – so he could then run against heartless Republicans for doing that.
Louisiana GOP didn't bite.
And JBE had the senate kill bills carrying the work requirement anyway thanks to his ownership of John Alario.

Yeah, except getting disability is pretty damn easy.

You think Louisiana voters can do the maths.

We literally have working folks with good steady paying jobs who already have good private insurance and they're dropping it for "free" government health care insurance with this medicaid expansion.
This is a very real problem that began with the ACA.

What does “created and supported” mean? I’ve never seen that terminology used.
If it created 19,800 jobs that would be a big number, but if it supported 19,800 jobs that doesn’t mean anything really.
But if anyone thinks the best way to grow the economy and create jobs is via Medicaid, we are in big trouble.
7% match now, 10% next and then what? And keep in mind the applicants are growing faster than anyone thought so it’s not just the percentage you have to be concerned with it’s the big pool of people.
Oh and then there’s the fraud. The state would have to hire more folks to police the system.

Yea I’m not quite sure how Medicaid dollars “create jobs”
Dropping piles of money on a society doesn’t create jobs, it creates inflation

It’s time to start letting these frickers die. Healthcare isn’t a right. Thin the herd.
Posted on 7/23/19 at 3:44 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
Medicaid isn’t “insurance,” it is a govt subsidy paid to healthcare providers so that they will treat a population who may or may not have means of paying for a service rendered.
Think of a all the corn farmers that get subsidized. That is essentially what Medicaid is.

This is already happening except computers are doing the work. Thousands are being discovered and kicked off Medicaid roles. We have some poor arse people in this state. We also have some people that are abusing Medicaid. Kick their asses off.
30,000 kicked off in April

MO these are the people I am 100% for helping. Not these leaches who work the system and don't try to help themselves.
Right.
I was making the point that the idea that all these well paid people are dropping private insurance and joining medicaid, is a farce.
If someone who qualifies for medicaid under these limits, drops their expensive private coverage, I'm ok with that. They need the help.

I mean, I would think that they could compare 3 numbers.
But if I'm JBE, and that 34% number is higher, I'm pushing the hell out of that on the campaign trail.

So, ACA doesn't allow you do that, unless your company premium is higher than 9 percent of your income.
And if it's higher than 9 percent of your income and you otherwise qualify for ACA subsidies, then I'm ok with that.
Again, this isn't really a thing.
EDIT: Unless you mean ACA forced employers to drop coverage which is pushing people onto the marketplace and subsidies. That's happened, but that's not the fault of the employee, or honestly, the employer.

It's the suburban white kids with their peanut allergies and Celiac's Disease that really need the health care.

Hope springs eternal. The typical Louisiana voter looks at two letters, and no numbers: (R), and (D).
You can't expect a whole lot from the electorate of a state with the worst education system in the country.

I should say that I do agree with your analysis - just not your expectations of the voters.

It's all the children.
Adults do estate planning so they can have all their assets in trusts or already given to their kids so when/if they get on medicaid they won't have to pay for it ever.

If you look at basically any state, Medicaid is, by far, the biggest expenditure. It is INSANE.
If you want to hear something crazy, roughly 30% of Kentucky residents receive some form of Medicaid.

It caps at 10%. The federal government keeps paying 90%.
