The true value of AK to this offense will be seen as these young WRs continue to develop and the addition to Cook. If he repeats last year's output, I think the team has to bite the bullet and give AK his big payday. If there is a substantial drop off (which I'm about 50% certain there will be), then I think he would be replaceable like you're saying.
1000% agree with this. I know y’all love to talk about his receiving ability, but no RB, even on the Saints, should be thrown to as much as he was last year. Our drop-off at receiver beyond Mikey T was incredible.

Did you think we could improve upon Reggie?
Yes. I was a big Reggie fan, still am, but I never thought that he reached his full potential here

Did you think we could have more production out of that position/need for our team than Sproles gave us?
Honestly at the time, no. I thought sproles pretty much topped off what a RB could produce in our offense. I’ve been completely blown away by what kamara has done which is why I want to keep him

Yeah, he should be thrown to more as he is our most dynamic and explosive receiving threat.
You think Thomas isnt replaceable but Kamara is? You literally could do the same replaceable exercise with thomas as you did with Kamara. Are you really trying to elude that Kamara is a dime a dozen RB
Kamara has two of the top six points per touch seasons EVER. No one is doing what he is doing when he's got the ball in his hands He's elite in yards after contact and forcing missed tackles.. 5th in RZ targets AND 2nd in RZ rush attempts.. back to back 1500+ yards from scrimmage seasons including the least amount of touches to get to 1500+ his rookie year.. the list can go on and on with this guy. This is your dime a dozen RB

Bump.

On #Saints Michael Thomas as GM Mickey Loomis talks: Sources say Loomis's frustration is simple. The Saints have offered to make Thomas the highest paid wideout in the NFL, with a contract that solidly exceeds Odell Beckham Jr. Loomis feels it's a great offer w/ great structure.

Michael Thomas's worse play. Turning to refs crying for a PI call (not coming) instead of fighting for the ball.

He's trying to sell the interference, which given the events of 15 minutes earlier, was certainly at the forefront of everyone's mind.

More from Loomis, per Ricardo Lecompte:
Saints GM Mickey Loomis on Michael Thomas situation:
-both sides not far apart
-Loomis & MT reps in contact every day
-bothers him deal isn't done and now in this situation
-doesn't like that MT is under contract and not here, but knows that's nature of negotiation

And what did that get him? Would you have any faith in getting a PI call after seeing what preceded this in the 4th QTR? He stopped playing football with the ball live in the air.

Actually, I’m saying an elite WR is way more important in today’s NFL. Combined with the necessity of having an elite CB, it becomes easy to me to say I would rather keep MT and Latt over Kamara. I’m admittedly being a little hot takey with my argument against paying Kamara, but the basis for it is solid.
Anyone foaming at the mouth to pay a crazy amount of money to a RB in today’s NFL is wrong. Like I said, I know how much y’all love him (I do too), I know how versatile he is, I know how great he’s been...but I still want to pay MT and Latt over him. Just the nature of the beast.

F that. Let him walk or trade him.

I do think Kamara is special and doubly special in Sean’s offense. That said, a big RB contract can go real bad, real fast.

Where's the gif of Drew Brees throwing a wounded duck up for the easy interception that effectively ended the game?
And, yeah, would have been better for him to take the sack.

Sends a nice message to the boat load of young players coming up for new contracts in the next couple years...

What happens next off season when he holds out again to be the first to be paid 25 million?
Posted on 7/25/19 at 7:26 pm to droc504
You mean after he signs a long-term contract THIS offseason?
That seems... unlikely.

You baws in here already turning on You can’t guard Mike?
Posted on 7/25/19 at 8:39 pm to redneck
Why bc I think Drew Brees makes okay wide receivers look good. I do think Thomas is a top five wr but I think receivers can easily be replaced and I wouldn't pay one 20 million a year when you can spend 25 million a year on two really good wrs. When teams started to double team him last year the offensive production dropped.. Paying him that much and youre basically hoping a rookie turns into a really good player bc you can't afford a good number two receiver

QBs are worth the money. WRs are not.

Based on what? Way more important? Guys Antonio Brown, AJ Green, Julio, Beckham, Mike Evans, Hopkins havent won dick. What makes them more valuable?
Elite RBs are the foundation of an offense, they are touching the ball double the amount of a WR, and the threat alone of guys like Kamara or Barkely are allowing offenses to operate more freely

Ya, the Mark Ingrams, Jordan Howards or Lamar Millers type of RBs. To simply say Kamara is an RB you cant pay him is stupid. Dude put up a 10.2 yards per reception his rookie year, Thomas posted 11.2 yards per reception last year. And here you are going on about not paying a RB
