Movie trailers with CGI different from the eventual movie

Whenever a trailer with bad special effects is released, I always see commenters say "it's just the trailer. Wait for the movie after the artists have time to finish it". See Terminator: Dark Fate. However, I can't think of a movie where this was actually the case. Anyone know of any off their head?

Same thing with video game betas.
When someone criticizes the visuals in a video game beta there is always a white knight that says "it's a beta"
But it ends up looking just the same.

Honestly that just doesn't make sense. If you're trying to convince people to watch the movie, why show them something half-assed?
I remember seeing some cut GOT scenes where the CGI was clearly unfinished, but that's obviously entirely different.

Did you see the early trailers/media for the Aladin remake? Will Smith looked very, very different in the finished product.
Trailers aren't made by the studio, they are made by specialty advertising firms. Studio has to get the footage to the trailer firm early enough for them to do their job, and CGI can be polished up until the film's ship deadline

Aladdin looks the same to me.

Cloverfield. The statue of liberty's head looked terrible in the trailer yet much more passable in the actual movie.

Cats had better be VERY different.

Like Sonic the Hedgehog?

Sonic is changing because of fan backlash not because they still had work to finish. They are completely resdisigning him.
