Marcus Stroman's start Friday night in Detroit drew a Who's Who of scouts from contenders -- and he delivered a gem.

The Yankees, Red Sox and Braves were all on hand to watch the All-Star right-hander toss seven shutout innings against the Tigers, according to MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi. And they were just the start. The Dodgers, Cubs, Rays, Padres and Reds also had scouts at Comerica Park.

Per Morosi, the Yankees had a "significant scouting presence" in attendance, including former Cubs general manager Jim Hendry, who is now a special assistant to Yankees GM Brian Cashman. The Red Sox dispatched top adviser Frank Wren to Detroit (who could also be monitoring closer Shane Greene), while the Braves sent pitching expert Rick Williams.

I would love Stro. Also, Frank Wren LOL

Also I wouldn't really consider Boston contenders as they may not even make the wild card

Two farm systems aren't like the other.

Sorry, the Yankees graduated most of their young players that made them a top 3 prospect rankings a year ago

Braves rank 14th on payroll and haven't even started to resign their young players. The Yankees and Sox have started signing their young guys to avoid arbitration.

(Yankees are also still paying ARod)

Yankees did the same with Severino, the difference right now is the Yankees owe Ellsbury (who doesn't even play) and Arod those two account for 26 million if the payroll. Yankees biggest contract on active roster is Tanaka at 22 million

Neat... Braves still have more high-end prospects to offer if it ever comes to a bidding war.

Braves aren't dealing top prospects for pitching help, I would take that bet

I wouldn’t be so sure. There’s a plethora of it. And this team has too much potential for a deep run not to deal some of it. Even if it’s a rental.

They had a shot last year and passed, I don't see them making a big deal after signing Dallas. Although someone like Brad Hand or Shane Greene would be fantastic in that bullpen

Injuries and ineffectiveness may force a hand this year though.
