Shot Caller.

Really messed me up, especially the scene at the motel with his son.

Original Poltergeist. I still can't sleep with closet light on and the door must be closed.

I learned there are two ways to do a rape scene in movies.

The first. The way it's done in made for tv movies on the lifetime network or some shite like that.

The second. The way it's done in irreversible. That's what an actual violent rape probably looks like. It's not something i ever thought about or imagined. It makes my chest tight just typing this out.

When the jew ranger (i forget his name) and the german soldier are fighting and the ranger starts begging him to not slowly drive the knife into his chest.

That scene is still with me.

The Happy Hooker.
I saw it at the drive in when I was a teenager.
Seen my first set of tits and I haven't been the same since.

The Good Son. Watched it as a kid during the Home Alone peak. Macaulay broke away from his Kevin McCallister/My Girl roles for this one and I wasn't expecting it.

I've held off until I'm in a really good place for this one.

Apocalypse Now! didn't get me too badly. Muholland Drive AND Lost Highway did, so Lynch has that touch when he wants.

To a degree, Magnolia, because I just wasn't really ready for it. I think repeat viewings of that one will be better.

The original Batman with Michael Keaton. I was like 4, but that scene when the joker fell to his death but was still laughing well after going splat gave little me nightmares.

Some children’s movies that were really f$&ked up:

The Boss Baby (this one broke my brain)
The Christmas Toy
The Brave Little Toaster

Flatliners (1990 version)

For some reason, that movie made me think about death and the afterlife a lot. Really scared me for a while because I couldn’t stop thinking about my death and what really happens to us in the afterlife. Where do we go, the thought of “eternity”, not living any longer and seeing friends/family, etc.

Shook the hell out of 10 year old me.
