No it was a perfect storm of contrasting styles, even Boston’s Black players were blue collar, bringing the lunchpail types agsinst the flashy Lakers, perfect for the two cities they represented. Then add in the the two superstars, a hick from french lick and a 6’8 point guard with the perfect LA name.

The media landscape has changed too much.
For those of you who didn't grow up before the internet, there was way, way less "stuff" to follow and the stuff that was followed was much bigger and more universal and stayed around a lot longer.
The internet age has fragmented everything and sped everything up. There's way more stuff going on and the speed of the stuff in the public eye changes quickly.
It applies to everything, sports, tv, pop culture, politics. Nothing these days is ever that big of a deal for that long because there's just so much competition for attention and everything goes so fast.
