A few wheat harvest photos

We had a really wet fall last year and it delayed the wheat crop in our area quite a bit. We finished up our harvest a few days ago and the wheat was actually better than I thought it would be. A few spots had a little more rye grass than I would have liked and it dragged our yields down but I think it will still average in the mid 70’s.

The grain carts today have twice the capacity that the rice trucks had back in the day. (80’s)

Good stuff, 2 high for cotton. How much land and what crops do you farm?

No we plant soybeans right behind the combine.

We grow cotton, corn, soybeans, wheat, and a little red clover for seed. One of our neighbors is going to have 400 acres of hemp for cbd oil. May look into that in the future.
Here is a picture of the clover I harvested. The seed is really small and is a strain on a combine.

Very nice! We haven’t grown it in years down this way. Yields were just too volatile.
I’m taking a “wait and see” approach on hemp. There are too many questions unanswered for me to jump into it atm.

The hemp can take the water?

Do you have to spray the wheat to kill it?

No, when it reaches maturity it dies and starts drying down. We cut it when the seed moisture reaches about 14%.

Yea, combines have come a long ways. Draper heads have really improved harvest also.

Holy chit I hated fricking with that auger header we had on the CTS when the hybrid rice started getting popular. Drapers FTW
