They didn't admit to their actions until 2017 but the CIA orchestrated the over throw of a democratically elected leader of Iran.
We did a lot of foolish things with the CIA during the cold war and this was one of them.

What about Ted Kennedy colluding with Russia to get rid of Reagan?

What about Hillary colluding with foreign governments to get rid of Trump.

I always thought that was more of an MI6 job, but that’s not surprising. The democratic government wanted to nationalize the oil companies, and BP wasn’t about to let that happen.

you are correct.
I read in an Eisenhower biography that the CIA was so powerful in the fifties that Ike couldn't stop such things as this operation. They had Congress in the pocket. Oftentimes LBJ toted the water for them in the Senate.

The Iranians hate the British as much as the Great Satan

Y’all know Iran used to look a helluva lot like America right. As late as say 1979

Right they were very much pro American after we installed the Shah and kept him in power for so long.
We should not have intervened there.

The Persians and the Arabs have hated each other for centuries and we should use that to our advantage.

There was real popular opposition to Mosaddegh. We leveraged that.

Plus the Brits had their hands in there, but we get all the blame.

I’m starting to repent for every time I made fun of a “tin foil hat” conspiracy dude over the last 30 or so years of my adulthood. I think they got it right more often than not and I now believe there is virtually nothing our government isn’t capable of.

Yep. No bearing 70 years later though.

I believe you may be referring to the Shia vs the Shiites.
It's more of a socio-religious difference than strictly a cultural issue.

They are still there. Iran and North Korea were always supposed to be controlled boogeymen that could be used to create fear and therefore revenue from the American people.
