John Walton (Walton & Johnson) has passed

For the last few weeks, they have been randomly missing days in the middle of weeks. After a while, it became obvious that it wasn't a vacation or one-time thing. Then very recently, they've been leaving the air at 9, and playing re-run clips from earlier in the day during teh 9 o clock hour.
Then, yesterday, Walton started talking about dying on the air and "this thing I have" and even jokingly saying that he looked into buying some baby blood.
Now, they've got Ken Webster (Producer Kenny) sitting in for Walton. I didn't tune in earlier, so I haven't heard the explanation, but it's pretty obvious that Walton is gravely ill and may never return. Which sucks. Kenny's voice is kind of annoying and he seems to laugh a lot at his own jokes.
Anyone know anything about this?

Yeah, I noticed all of that too. And it was kind of cringe worthy this morning with Kenny sitting in. You could tell Johnson was basically smiling and nodding through the show, because Kenny is his boss.

Amazing talent; I won't believe their ability to talk 'with each other' until I see it with my own eyes. Defies believability.
Given that their inflammatory cultural/political insight is off the charts powerful (to those that aren't too guilty to listen ), I wouldn't be surprised if the guy was poisoned to shut him up.
Hope it works out good. Guaranteed early morning laughs and hard critique...at the Progressive Culture.

And thus begins the end of The Radio Gawds...

I could hear sickness in Walton's voice yesterday. Sad..been listening to these dudes, for the most part, since I went to LSU in 2000.
Time changes everything.
Time changes everything.

Any context here?
I didn't literally see it. I was just implying it was not at all the same. Anyone who listens regularly enough would be able to tell. I like producer Kenny, but he's much better as the producer and behind the scenes guy. He doesn't have the radio personality needed, much less, one to match up to Walton and Johnson. Even Johnson's personality was different and held back without Walton.

I like the Ken Webster man on the street interviews, but his voice is too nasal and annoying to listen to for 5 hours straight.
They're talking about it right now. They said that Walton "is very sick" but that it "looks treatable and that he will be back."
I assumed cancer because of all the missed air time (which would be horrible because Walton's son died of cancer many years ago), but it sounds like they don't really know what it is.

Mr. Kenneth (Johnson) said Walton had been feeling bad "for weeks," and the fact that he even came into work at all during that time was pretty amazing. It's got to be pretty serious.

For the past week or so it’s been very noticeable.
FYI they said that Walton is in the hospital, has something treatable and will be back. Kenny is sitting in so they don’t miss any more shows which has happened often lately.
Some of the most talented guys in radio. If they weren’t so polarizing you would have to think they would be more popular. Since Obama left office they have been funny again and I enjoy the show every day

Sucks if he is in bad health but that show went to shite damn near 10 years ago now

Love W & J. Used to listen to them when i was a kid (i'm 37). Hope Mr. Walton gets well and gets back to pissing off lefties and the PC crowd.

I was out of town - I came back and noticed a mixed "new" and "best of" show live and the app doesn't show every segment. I figured it was Memorial Day scheduling, but all the way through the end of last week? I haven't even fired up the app today, but it could just be a cold or bronchitis.
As someone who talks for a living, you can be getting better then have to talk for several hours and it can set you back if you are not 100%. Maybe he needs a real break. I think he is a few years older than Steve, as well.

God I hope they are better than "Rick & Bubba".
