That crowd has been melting since season 5. They’ve just gone from angry to suicidal is all.

The office went pretty off the rails towards the end.

Final seasons generally aren’t

It’s still fun as shite for those who always enjoyed the show for the show and not for what the show gave us.

what does this mean?

so you didn't enjoy the show "for what it gave you", which is the actual output/content? but you enjoyed the show "for the show"?

Almost every series does. Only the short series can keep it together for the entire time. Breaking bad is an example

These story lines just do not have the material to support long series.

GOT does

D/D just aren't good writers and completely mis-budgeted their resources. they also apparently didn't have a plan (which GRRM doesn't either), which caused a bunch of "omg wow" moments to end up being plot bottlenecks

the 2 biggest are (1) fricking up Dorne for 2 shock killings and (2) Cersei blowing up the sept. those 2 acts removed politics from a show about politics.

the quality was decreasing (due to no book content) but passable, until those 2 things happened. then it got real shitty, real fast

fricking up the budget on stupid stories and wasteful CGI cut the remaining 2 seasons in half, basically. then you have insane stories, stupid dialogue, rushed plot, and teleportations all over the place. they're just scrambling to create drama without the time to do it, so it's just shock shite out of nowhere and forced conflict

Like those who believe they know more about tactics than Navy SEALS after buying an AR15, more than college coaches after watching LSU football, there will be a segment which believes it has such an understanding of GoT that it knows more about writing than the author and the directors /producers.

If nothing else, these people give you something to laugh at.

The office had a really nice recovery in the final season. The last episode was great.

Remember in the very first episode where everyone commented that it took months to travel from King's Landing to Winterfell?

Well to be fair there are a lot of fans with more experience writing endings to GOT than the author

Game Of Thrones has always given me what I wanted it to. That show occupied my mind and interest and game me something to look forward to. I’ve binge watched the entire season three times at least and got to escape this insane real world whilst I watched.

I never read a single word of the books and have watched all of the shows, yet can still readily admit that this season is far below the quality of all preceding seasons.
