Starting to think the reason GRRM suddenly went off the rails writing all of these side novellas and companion books is because Time Warner convinced him they needed source material for some lame arse spinoffs

Dany isnt a great leader, she has had a lot given to her through a "birthright".
She was a spoiled little exiled princess, that was sold as a teen sex-toy 'wife' to a barbarian chieftain. Rather than get overwhelmed and die, she grew into being Dothraki. She learned and honored their ways. She adopted some of their more selfish parts (like when she looted Qarth at the end of that episode); she didn't see it as anything other than a practical act. She made it through that desert through force of will, and emerged not as a Westerosi but as a Dothrak. She took and kept the title Kaleesi, even after she entered more civilized arenas. She claims Westeros as birthright, but she's approached taking it from a Dothraki's perspective, which is to say as a barbarian queen. She's gracious and sympathetic- for a Dothraki; but responds to opposition with a blitz.
I wish at the end of Ep 3 she'd fought a little fiercer, because at that moment she'd have reverted back to her Dothraki roots.
Here's another Bran complaint - he could have watched her talk with the witch, and observed whatever magic went on that cost her child and changed her that day, and given some insight into the prophecies she was told. Was she cursed by a desert spirit (a djinn)? Was that the Lord of Light at work? Something supernatural occurred, you'd think he'd be into exploring that.

'Game of Thrones': Why fans are livid over the latest death
quote:That last sentence made me spit out my drink. Just incredible.
Shocking and brutal death has long been a part of "Thrones," but Missandei's death also represents the culmination of its problems with race. The series has never been good at developing its characters of color and their cultures , as it has with white characters. Missandei always felt one-note, even as Emmanuel gave great performances.
At this point the series had just two named characters of color, and just killed off one of them as motivation for Dany, a white savior, reducing Missandei, who's black, to a prop for Dany's story. Adding insult: Missandei, a former slave, was literally returned to chains in her last moments of life.

And the defender of fictional black characters looks exactly like you'd predict.

Of course she’s white. Plenty of black people seem to love this show surprisingly.

Valyrian steel
Question about this metal within these swords, could this Valyrian metal act like dragon glass when stabbing a human in the heart? If so, a stab in the heart, from someone they love dearly, could turn them into a White Walker. Right? If I'm not mistaken, Valyrian steel is made from dragon fire, magic, and great blacksmith skills. Does Valyrian steel have dragon glass as one of the properties within? Seems "Dragon Glass" having the name dragon within seems intentional, and why is dragon glass called dragon glass in the first place? Shoot, how did dragon glass come to be? For some reason Valyrian steel kills white walkers the same as dragon glass does, and this got me thinking can Valyrian steel make another NK the same way dragon glass did?
Why I ask all this, could Jon Snow's love Daenerys or Jaime's love for Cersei cause another White Walker to be made, if either one stabbed their loved one in the heart? They both own Valyrian steel swords and both might be faced with the choice of killing their loved ones with a stab in the heart.

But Jamie gave his Valyrian steel sword to Brienne when she and Pod the rod took off to find the Stark girls.

He gave her Oathkeeper. He is carrying Widow’s Wail.

Oh yes my bad you’re absolutely right. Thank you. I forgot about Widow’s Wail.

Cersei had the golden company chop down all the trees to send to Winterfell for their funeral pyres.
I am still watching this show but hot damn there is a lot of stupidity going on in it now.

We knew that the Bronn situation needed to be resolved, but the way they've gone about it has been clumsy and really out of place. The way Tyrion and Jaime looked at each other when he left the room, they didn't seem to think it was serious. If this show sticks to reality, I'd expect to see him captured by a large group of soldiers and strung up. He may be a great swordsman, but he's not one of the more cunning schemers in Westeros. That is certainly what would happen in the real world if he walked into that situation and made those threats.
BTW, we never heard him get offered Riverrun, so it's either a lie or we're to assume he later talked to Cersei and she promised it to him. Either way, I don't think he's ever going to be the lord of anything. He's not important to the story and he just threw his only virtues out the window.
The episode 5 battle is looking like it will be similar to the Quiddich World Cup from Harry Potter, with all of the various teams showing up. That MAY be where we finally see the Reeds, who clearly have not figured into the Jon story and are now irrelevant. But we didn't see them at the battle of Winterfell, so who knows?
And the Glovers are going to have to go down. They've pussied out not once but twice. I don't think the show would have made a point to have them betray the Starks once again if they weren't going to have them suffer some consequences.

I agree that that article and others like it are terrible... but Cersei herself quipped to Missandei about Dany being the "breaker of chains" when Missandei had been chained back up.
eta: She wasn't a slave again, she was a POW that was executed in front of Dany to provoke her. Cersei was just being a smartass with that line.

This scene made absolutely zero sense to me, in fact the entire bronn scene felt so forced. we've experienced him save both tyrion and jamie's life in the past. the way they portrayed their relationships in that scene was as if bronn had just met them for the first time ever.
Disregarding the fact of how unlikely it was that Bronn could just sneak into winterfell with a giant crossbow, luckily walk into a room with JUST tyrion and jamie, and walk out unscathed, i would've expected for the dialogue to be lighthearted with some jokes between them at first and then bronn nonchalantly mention he was there to kill them. Instead they had Bronn go scorched earth and act completely out of character.
Trying not to beat a dead horse, but the writing this season is terrible.

Though I can hear black radio hosts saying exactly that in their paranoid morning diatribes, as we speak.
