Poverty In The US Was Plummeting--Until LBJ Declared War on It

Another reason he was the worst president ever
quote:
In 1967, 95 percent of “prime-age” men between the ages of 25 and 54 worked. During the Great Recession, though, the share of jobless prime-age males rose above 20 percent. Even today, long after the recession officially ended, more than 15 percent of such men aren’t working… The rise of joblessness—especially among men—is the great American domestic crisis of the twenty-first century. It is a crisis of spirit more than of resources… Proposed solutions that focus solely on providing material benefits are a false path. Well-meaning social policies—from longer unemployment insurance to more generous disability diagnoses to higher minimum wages—have only worsened the problem; the futility of joblessness won’t be solved with a welfare check… various programs make joblessness more bearable, at least materially; they also reduce the incentives to find work… The past decade or so has seen a resurgent progressive focus on inequality—and little concern among progressives about the downsides of discouraging work… The decision to prioritize equality over employment is particularly puzzling, given that social scientists have repeatedly found that unemployment is the greater evil.

LBJ was the biggest pos that was ever president.
Bill Clinton is a distant second.

You mean incentivizing people to become dependent on the government and not work creates more poverty? Wow I’m shocked.

LBJ's vision built the Democrat base to where it is today.

It wasn’t a war on poverty
It was a war on the effects of being in poverty
A real war on poverty would involve making people more productive in quality employment

The U.S. government has spent ~$20 Trillion on the 'War on Poverty'.
Where can the taxpayer surrender and end this war?

Marriage and all the good things that flow from it in the black community was booming until LBJ killed that too. Who needs a man when you can skip him and just get the check. For decades we have subsidized social pathology and wonder why we get more of it. Because good intentions.
Of course, everyone has known all that for decades and Patrick Moynihan told us it would happen in 1964.

He was a cokehead too. I know some of his rich supporters from back in the day.

The War on Poverty and the War on Drugs were unbelievably destructive, and ultimately pointless.

The freer the market, the less reliant people are on government. This is not an ideal scenario for Democrats.

Every living VietNam vet should be given air fare to Austin and taken to his graveside and be allowed to piss directly on his grave.

1. No shite. The government screws everything up.
2. What does this have to do with tariffs or film credits?

Amen to this, brother.
And call me a typical aggy, but LBJ's library is pretty perfect for that POS school in Austin.

Statics........In 1967 500,000 service people were in Viet Nam, 500,000 were being trained to replaced those in Viet Nam and an additional 1,000,000+ were in Europe. Another 70,000 were in South Korea. They were counted as "employed" There were other. troops through the world.
LBJ was a lying scum bag, without the bag.

Not only that but before they installed their "great society" the percentage of two parent households for the black community was well in the 80's and now it's not even 40%.
The democrat party has done more damage to the black community than any racist could have dreamed of.

LBJ and his senate buddies kept the CRA from passing in 1957. Republican Dirksen introduced both the bill in 57 and in 64. I doubt 2% of college educated blacks know who is nor do they know LBJ fought him in 57.
