I'm just afraid they went too far with Miguel. It would be too far fetched if he came back and kicked arse again.

Some future plot options...who is Tory's dad...who is Miguels dad? Could Mike Barns be either of their dads? Johnny's boss when he was installing TVs was named Mike. Was Barnes his boss? Larusso family vacation to reconnect in Okinawa. Chozen finds them with an ax to grind. Terry Silver comes back in play? Obviously Ali next season.

I'm hoping next season is the LaRusso/Johnny redemption song and season 4 is Miguel's redemption. I agree with you. I don't want to see Miguel fighting at all in season 3. Could even further the villainy of Kreese' Cobra Kai by having them tease wheelchair bound Miguel for being weak and unable to hang with the real CK.

I liked that idea that someone had of Johnny becoming a head salesman eventually at LaRusso auto, maybe even as a feel good moment to help end s4 and the series.

What would be ideal for me is next season (this isn't in any order):

- Miguel is in recovery and Robbie is in juvi. They're left with Sam, Aisha, and the misfits against the OG Cobra Kai

- Daniel, with the Miguel incident and Kreese' return bringing those two closer together, will help get Johnny out of being a depressed alcoholic by telling him that someone needs to stand up to Kreese, and he needs to be there for his son right now, while letting him know it can't be him due to the problems on the home front.

- Johnny is there for his son in juvi, trying his damnedest to keep him on the level cause he can essentially kick anyone's arse that steps up to him.

- Johnny starts new dojo with Aisha and the outcast Daniel-Do misfits. Sam joins when her dad refuses to be a part of any of this.

- They get completely overrun and outclassed in the All Valley even though Sam and Aisha put up decent showings with Sam losing in the finals to Tory or Hawk, with them going to far too defeat Sam throughout the tournament. I'd like to see a completely battered Sam in the finals, not a Sam with an injured limb with Miguel AND his mom there to witness the tourney in wheelchair/crutches/whatever as long as he's better than he was to begin the season.

- That imagery causes Sam's mother to realize that this is a very real problem, and Daniel needs to be part of the solution. She will finally see the real bully iteration of Cobra Kai.

- Robbie keeps trying to communicate with Miguel during the season. They start forming a friendship with Sam dating neither. Miguel finally visits Robbie in juvi and they reconcile 7 episodes in or so.

- Miguel is rehabbing throughout the season, and eventually his mom relents/Miguel forgives and lets him talk to Johnny. Sam is of course visiting him throughout feeling guilty for her part in what happened to him.

- We get a Daniel-Do/Johnny's Cobra Kai fusion to close the season with the final shot being Johnny leading his dojo through the fence in the Miyagi-Do back yard.

- Final shot of the season is Robbie getting out of juvi walking towards Johnny's mustang. Close up of the driver and Miguel's driving with his sunglasses on and a little smirk on his face (son and star protege of Johnny on the same team. It's game time baby. This next season's for all the marbles). Cobra Kai emblem.

I'm mot sure I want it to go more than 3 seasons. It will get watered down.

4 is about the limit for me. The battle lines are drawn now. Season 3 should be dominated by the villains. Season 4 should be the go home season with presumably a feel good ending.

watching tv interviews this morning, its definitely going longer than three seasons. I think 5 is probably the most it can go and stay this awesome. If it goes 7 to 10 seasons like I've seen the actors and writers occasionally hypothesize I cant see how it stays this awesome. I think all involved love karate kid too much to just keep it going indefinitely for the sake of it. My guess is they map out what they want to do, figure out how many seasons that brings into the fold, and they put an end date on it sometime over the next year or so. I am guessing they know they will be able to finish telling the story at this point.

Saw on the internet earlier that Miyagi was like 51 when they filmed karate kid, and Daniel is 57 now. Pretty crazy.

People need to remember these seasons are only 5 hours long. Even at 5 seasons, that’s only 25 hours of TV and really not that much content for a Tv series. I think they’re pacing pretty well, but I agree completely the longer it goes, the worse it will get, potentially enough to tarnish the great job they did to this point.

This season was essentially Captain America: Civil War in between the two Avengers movies (All Valley tournies).

I wish Mr Miyagi was still around . Him cameoing in this series would have been amazing.

His liver wouldn't have held up.

I read somewhere that he was such a high-functioning alcoholic that you've never seen him on film or television where he wasn't 100% plastered as the cameras were rolling.

On the Bill Simmons podcast he was all but guaranteed a 3rd season.

Things to look out for and I stole one of them from a youtube video

Ali is a dr and same with her husband. Does Ali help Miguel because of Johnny

Is Ali Tory mom or step mom?

I believe that Miguels mom has hinted her sons father is Terry Silvers twice. But the guy who played him is retired.

How many seasons can the show go before the kids stop looking like kids

what doesn't make sense to me is no matter how much kreese works with hawk he isn't that great as a fighter or at karate so how can Hawk be kreese # 1 fighter like Johnny or Barnes

I believe the coming full circle moment everyone wants to see is to have Johnny and Daniel team up.

I see it as Daniel is the much better teacher of karate hence he took Dimitris biggest weakness and used it as a way to beat hawk. His fear became anticipation Johnny could never do that. But Daniel doesn't have the balance and perspective that Miyagi or even Johnny have that karate should be something to help people and fun not a way of life. What we saw in kk3 with silvers, barnes and kreese and s2 with daniel that you can't practice good karate when all your focused on is ego and pride.

Robbie said you guys can learn some things from each other. What are those things in karate and life?

Johnny may not have those sexy techniques like “wax on, wax off”, but the best fighter in the series has been almost exclusively trained by Johnny since Miguel sniffed out Kreese’s bullshite almost instantly.

And honestly, Miguel had to cheap shot Robbie in season 1 to ensure a close victory (he still might have won who knows), but he absolutely destroys Robbie in season 2. So from a trajectory standpoint, Johnny is outpacing Daniel in terms of training students they are emotionally invested in.

Miguel may just be the more naturally gifted fighter, but Robbie did give him everything he wanted and more in season 1 with much less training.

ETA: watching it back, I definitely understand Daniel’s motivations more after Kreese shows up in episode 2 next to Johnny when Daniel goes to talk to him about Robbie staying at his place. Kreese even threw in a cheap shot about Miyagi’s death to rile him up. I had forgotten that interaction.

There's been so many cheesy moments in the series, but the opening of episode 8 had my dying. It's Johnny's 80's sex fantasy.

In the final fight of the season? Maybe, but he basically turned the corner and saw Robbie pinning his girlfriend up against a locker by her shoulders. A misunderstanding, but I don't fault him after seeing that. He also didn't look like he wanted to fight that day before seeing that. He looked like he was trying to make it to Tory/Sam before it got to fists.

Rewatching season 1 for the heck of it on a slow Friday. That Chicago Bulls 90s intro song at the end of episode one when Johnny decides to train Miguel

I still kind of wonder if Tory is Ali’s daughter. Ali could be living a facebook lie not to sound bad and etc. I also kind of feel that Daniel could lose everything in the next season. His wife leave him and he goes bankrupt.

I thought about that as well and hope it doesn't happen. I'd rather him give Johnny a job. Lol

I just can’t see it happening. Daniel will do the right thing. Hope I’m not wrong too. I want a good ending and reconciliation for Johnny and Daniel. Their hearts are both in the right place despite their obvious flaws. They deserve a feel good ending, especially Johnny.

Demitirie is the real villain of Season 2. Krease is just a red herring.

The defending of Demetri on the inter webs is truly baffling man. Hawk was a giant tool this season, but Demetri did something heinous. Him and Kreese are the only two characters that are just unredeemable.

ETA: probably Tory too though she was kind of pushed to her edge, she didn’t really show the ability to want to be better to people around her at any point in the season

Tons of thoughts and I’ll preface this by saying I did not think there was a chance in hell I’d ever write a post this long about “Cobra Kai”. They’ve managed to do this whole reboot and nostalgia thing so well though by staying true to the characters and the tone of the original story in a modern setting. Who woulda thunk it?

This a great write up. You hit the nail on the head for sure!

This season made me even moreso Team Johnny/Miguel. Robbie and Danny are insecure bitches. Kreese played Johnny but he was just trying to give the guy a 2nd chance.

Danny is a terrible father and husband. As a DODO- I would never allow a teenage boy to live in the same house as my teenage daughter. F THAT!

Hawk and Demitri started to annoy me. I lol'd Kreese gave him a bloody nose, but that was messed up. And lets not get into the stealing of the Medal of Honor.

Sam was jealous of Tory even though she is the "princess". She is not likeable.

Stingray/Chubs was hilarious.

Miguel and Aisha seem to be the only good kids in my opinion.
