Most officers in the early 30s used .38 specials not .45 calibers. And tommy guns were .45 but apparently they had trouble when shooting the cars. The video I watched said the flathead V8 ford cars were like driving a armored vehicle at the time. I’m guessing when shooting from a considerable distance (over 30 yards) those calibers couldn’t penetrate.
