The Advocate’s Brooks Kubena reported that “Mike Kuchar, co-founder of X&O Labs, a research company for football coaches, explained that quarterbacks making the decisions in RPO’s (run, pass, option offenses) is the hardest part of the transition into this new style of offense.

A transition which The Advocate writer noted bodes well for LSU’s Burrow, who was running RPO’s at the age of 13 and at OSU. “This is what I’m used to” Burrow said, adding “I can have a lot of input and have a lot of suggestions about where we’re going”. The report noted, expect LSU’s TE’s to be “used more” and “spread out” more, and it’s talented runningbacks ranked no.2 and no.8 “paired with a receiving corps that returns every starter... the Tigers are set up to make a smooth transition.”

The report explained, how a huge part of the RPO’s success is being able to run the ball so the offense can key on whomever the “seventh defender” is that’s moving in to stop the run, thus using that vacated space to complete a pass. I believe this all bodes extremely well for the offense and LSU’s success, since running the ball has never been an issue for the Tigers.

People act like we never rAn a single rpo last season... Seems to be more of an emphasis this upcoming season, but we ran quite a few last year.

And here I thought RPO was run-pass option

RPO helps a lot slowing down pass rushers. Against teams like bama who kills us in the trenches it can help some. Also causes men in coverage to hesitate. Hopefully it can help provide some much needed offense against Alabama. Our offense was fine most of the year against just about everybody else. But we know what the standard is.

I look at this very differently, LSU has never been able to really take advantage of its ability to run the ball, what’s different is now the offense can with a more advanced run, pass, option offense.

We will probably need to recruit more fast, shiftier runningbacks than the big power backs we have grown accustomed to. I think Emory is gonna thrive is this rpo offense.

Disliked for the sole fact that Emery was listed as the #2 RB of this class.

John Emery Jr.: #1 RB 247 sports, #1 RB ESPN, #2 RB Rivals

Trey Sanders :#2 RB 247 sports, #2 RB ESPN, #1 RB Rivals

John. Emery is #1 on 2/3 major recruiting sites...

I've said for a while that Burrow could be used a lot like how Penn State used McSorley. Now we end up with Brady who, along with Morehead, played a role in developing McSorley in an RPO based offense. I think itll be a good fit.

I have a real good feeling about the hiring of Brady to go along with some old school stuff from coach E. I am ready for the season to get here. I think LSU football is climbing back up to top 5 status.
