Been reading too many bad things about Aspartame, so I need recs for a new sweetener. Mostly just for coffee and iced tea. BTW, I don't like Stevia or Splenda.
Yes I'm on KETO.

Monk fruit
ETA: Since you are on Keto, you really shouldn't need any sweetener by now. Look into the Perfect Keto brand coffee creamers. They have MCT and will sweeten your coffee.

Unless you are on Keto or have a problem why not cane sugar? That is unless you use half a cup or drink coffee and tea all day (which I do and I use Stevia) sugar isn’t the devil if used in moderate amounts.

When I do sweeten coffee, I only use honey, it doesn't taste right to me without it anymore. I only use it in tea as well.

For Keto, use ethyoritol if you want a sweetener.
But use in "small" quantities unless you want the squirts (i.e. Don't use 2 cups of it in your sweet tea pitcher).
But really, you should be doing a bulletproof coffee with butter and coconut oil if you really want a good coffee on that diet.

I usually use half a packet in my coffee and a full packet in my tea.

It's about 70% as sweet as regular suger. But I'd stick to the same portions you typically use.

I would definitely dump aspartame. I’ve went to an aspartame plant. Used glass-lined reactors because the process is so corrosive. And it hasn’t been made in the US since 2016
I use Splenda (sucralose) for coffee and although it’s artificial, it seems to be safe. I’ve tried Stevia in coffee, but I don’t like the taste

Exactly what negative things have you been seeing?

quote:Stevia has a bitterness that if you taste it, you cannot get past it. I've tried 3 times. I really think if you give Splenda a week, you'll be able to convert. I now prefer it to sugar.

There have been no conclusive studies proving any harm from aspertame. The closest they got was a study showing you’d have to consume over 40 diet sodas every day to begin to see any harmful effects.

How about you just drink your coffee black like God intended?
Posted on 3/7/19 at 9:39 am to BMoney
I just like a small amount of sweetener. I can drink it black, but just prefer a little sweetness.

A little heavy cream sweetens it enough for me. It's a different sweetness than from sugar or sugar substitute, but enough to hide the bitterness.

Drink better coffee, and drink it black. Problem solved.

I used to think I didn't have a ton of sugar intake. Most days I don't eat any sweets or processed foods so all of my sugars were coming via natural sugars in my food or via drinks. I don't drink pop.
There are roughly 4 grams of sugar in a teaspoon. I used to add 3tsp of sugar to each cup of coffee, about 4 cups a day. Sometimes I would go the energy drink route where I was having 2 8.4oz Red Bulls and a cup of coffee a day.
All coffee, 4 cups, 3tsp each cup = 48g of sugar just from coffee.
or
2 Red Bulls (26g/ea) and 1 cup of coffee = 64g of sugar being drank each day
Recommended daily intake of sugar for a man per day? 38 freaking grams TOTAL.
I was blowing by sugar intake recommendations without even eating a bite of food. Eat a banana during the day? That's another 14g of sugar. Apple? 19g.
All that's to say that, best case scenario, "moderate amounts" of sugar cannot be met daily if you're consuming
ANY sugar through drinks.
I don't drink Red Bulls any more and I've quit putting sugar in coffee.
