30 for 30: Deion's Double Play

Tonight on ESPN.
I wasn't that old enough to remember Deion in his true prime.
I remember his later years with Dallas and Washington, and then again with Baltimore.
But very intrigued by this one.
Should be a good one.
These always are.

Don’t think Deion’s the greatest corner of all-time but God was he fast and talented and added entertainment value to the game and people loved it

He was the best cover corner in history....

Really hated him back then when he made New Orleans think we had a shot in hell of signing him.

He and Bo Jackson are the two greatest athletes ever. I give Deion the slight nudge bc he played basketball very well. He could have played OB or Corner in college. He played football at the highest level. He ran college track at a high level and played baseball at the highest level. He is the best cover corner ever and probably top three return guys ever. He dabbled at WR. He had issues hitting a curve, but was still good enough to play everyday in MLB. Bo’s injury makes it difficult to compare the two bc Bo didn’t have full careers in the NFL or MBL.

I'm excited to see more in depth of him before the NFL and his baseball career.

Deion said on his Instagram a while back promoting the thing: “I finally did a 30 for 30 but it should've been a 90 for 90.”

Maybe not the athlete that Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson were, but I always have to bring up Carl Crawford in this discussion. Ended up playing baseball, obviously, but had a signed LOI to Nebraska for football and a basketball offer from UCLA.

Herb Adderley achieved the same feats as Deion, was just as good and fast, Darrell Green was just a shorter Deion but faster and less prone to injury, Mel Blount and Dick "Night Train" Lane CHANGED THE GAME at corner, Mike Haynes just as good and effective, Ronnie Lott was a first-team all-pro AS A ROOKIE AT CORNER, Lemar Parrish/Ken Riley for the Bengals achieved basically the same feats as Deion, hell Rod Woodson was better than Deion, I don't need to make the argument for him HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS make the argument for him, Darrelle Revis in an era when cover corners can't so much as even BREATHE on a wide receiver past 5 yards without getting called for PI, good try will never convince me Deion was the best of all-time

Bo > Deion
Bo was easily a better baseball player. Football was a wash but Deion is a little overrated because of his showmanship, kind of like Muhammad Ali. Deion was just super fast, made him a great cover guy and outfielder, but he had glaring weaknesses in both sports-couldn’t tackle and wasn’t a good hitter in baseball. Bo was an all star in both sports. I don’t see how it’s debatable unless you were too young to see Bo play.
That being said. Both were awesome and I hope we see another great 2 sport player again.

Deion played in a frickn superbowl and a world series.
Deion scored a td... and dropped a major league bomb in the SAME WEEK.
Unreal

Deion had a good week, lol. Bo is the only guy to make pro bowl and all star game.
I’m not knocking Deion, but he was a one trick pony-speed.

Dave Winfield was drafted in the aba, NBA, mlb (4th overall) and NFL. And he was the college world series MVP as a pitcher.

While we’re on the subject. Danny Ainge was a high school all American in all 3 major sports. The only guy to do that ever. Went on to play pro baseball and long career in basketball.
And is a scratch golfer.
