How are we any better, especially offensively, than we were at the end of the Miles era?
It’s the same unimaginative shite with just a cheaper head coach calling the shots.

There's an ocean between LSU and Bama. It's really only a slow flowing creek between OU and Bama. They're close.
Georgia can play with Alabama as well, yet we just accept we will never compete with them any more.
LSU has the possibility to compete with Alabama, but we just chalk it up as a loss.
I feel we should be able to compete with just about anyone. I feel LSU could be like Clemson and Georgia, and even OU and have the athletes to at least put up points on them and make it interesting.. but we have an offensive culture issue against them. Those teams aren't afraid of them on offense.
Any ways, I won't expect to beat Alabama.. but LSU has no business dropping more than 2 games.
I just feel like we are becoming more and more content with being mediocre. I don't remember ever feeling like we weren't elite over the post decade.. even when we weren't exactly elite. Now it's "an ocean of difference."

29-0 against a gimpy Tua. at HOME. Worse lost to Bama since 2002

Ok, let's use this logic. Surely you have no problem with me saying LSU isn't in the same universe as Troy right? I remember them kicking our arse on the field. So, that means Troy is on a totally different level than LSU right? I'm using your own argument, with different teams, so you can't disagree with me right?
You're actually not using my same logic. I never said team A was not in the same universe as team B. I never said LSU was on a totally different level than UGA simply b/c we beat them. My argument is that we are on the same level as them. We dominated them when they were at the peak of their program.
When Troy beat LSU, we were incredibly dysfunctional with the Canada situation boiling over.
quote:
Why don't we compare LSU's last two games against Bama to UGA's last two games against Bama? Let's also take note of the stage that UGA played Bama on in both games. UGA was there, we were not.
Ok? What's your point?
quote:
That's fine. Then you shouldn't use your previous argument of UGA playing in the weaker east. It seems they are pretty damn similar.
Again, missing the point here. I'm saying we are on the same level as UGA. Wins vs ranked opponents doesn't mean the East is as good as the West.
Know how many of those ranked wins for UGA came vs the East? Only 3. They have an easier path to Atlanta and I don't think anyone can seriously argue otherwise. So when you are comparing things like "Division titles, trips to Atlanta, etc", that has to be taken into account.

How so? What are the similarities between the two offenses?

Statistically we were not any better
I guess it is more appealing to some just because its not toss dive every other play. Hopefully some adjustments can be made this offseason to improve the offense. We know the defense will always be elite under Aranda

You don't think our team/program is getting better overall? I think it's pretty clear we are better off now than a year ago. I'd say that means closing the gulf to some degree.

This is my point. We get beat over the head with NFLSU crap and how awesome our recruits, facilities, coaching staff are. Can I not expect better than a 3 loss season?
You wanna know how Bama got to where they are today? They didn’t accept mediocrity. They saw the coach they wanted that everyone said was unattainable and didn’t let him say no. They didn’t hire within their staff because he excelled at recruiting. When their offense struggles, they go out and get the most qualified guy that brings some innovation that matches the talent in the field. They didn’t promote a position coach that last was an OC when Murder She Wrote was still on TV.

Both ranked in the bottom half of the NCAA with NFL talent.

That's what I thought. You can't actually give specifics on what makes the 2 offenses similar lol.

We are ever so lucky that this will be Herman's first great class and that ed had NFL talent everywhere when he got here.
In 2018, LSU was ranked 7th or 8th in composite talent rankings, Texas 9th. There is no gulf of talent between the two. Texas is the highest rated B12 team.

Of course you can. Most fans do. I know I do. And I expect to see that very soon.

You could have summed this up with "they had an opening and threw the most money imaginable at Saban"

Really don’t even have to add NFL teams are interested. If he’s not getting a good raise from OU and decides to leave teams from all over would be lined up at his door.
O, on the other hand, not so much. Would any other in CFB pay him what LSU? Doubtful and this is a discounted price.

NCAA Total Offense Rank
2015 - 43
2018 - 68
Better?

Who would win between LSU and Oklahoma? It would probably resemble the Aggie game, so Hanny is right.
I know Hanny’s reading these posts, see you at the poker tables Friday, Hanny!

The LSU program is putting out the message that LSU cannot compete with Alabama.
I don't know, I would say the results from the last 4 games have done a pretty good job of getting out that message on their own

Fuk Hanny. He is a dumbass. LSU operates LSU and doesn't and shouldn't use Alabama as a single decision point on how to run our Athletic Department or compensate our coaches.
WTF would some of you do? Not give this coaching staff raises or extensions because of Alabama? LSU was predicted to be a bottom feeder in the SEC but ended up 10-3, a no. 7 ranking, and a winner of the Fiesta Bowl.
Do some you not realize just what Orgeron inherited? He had NO QB ready to compete at the SEC level and went out and found Joe Burrow just 6 weeks before playing a top 10 at the time Miami.
LSU needed a kicker so he went and got Cole Tracy.
LSU needed help on the DL so he went and got Fehoko.
LSU winning 10 games (& very well could have been 11 or 12) was a hell of an achievement.
LSU had 2 QBs who transferred out and 1 wasn't even good enough to start at a JUCO. We had 2 serviceable RBs but no Guice, Fournette, or Jeremy Hill.
Then there was the OL which started a different starting lineup for the 1st 5 or 6 weeks of the season.
LSU had some huge gaping holes that needed filling and this staff did a damn good job.
What should UGA do with Kirby Smart? He has lost to Bama in the NC and SEC Championship Game in the last 2 seasons and got blown out by LSU. I guess UGA should forget everything Kirby Smart accomplished and say no to any contract extensions or raises?
You don't run an athletic department based on obsession with 1 team. LSU is going to get where we want to be but LSU was not as strong as some of you apparently realize.
