Bad trades, bad signings and “skimping” on medical expenses...

This might be overall good for the Pelicans

GOOD.

Rip this organization to absolute shreds.

Maybe it will embarrass them into doing the right thing.

If only we could be run like the stellar Lakers and Knicks that he wants to go to, am I right?

The Lakers and Knicks can get away with being run like garbage.

We cannot. We have no margin for error at all. We have to be run, top to bottom, EXCEPTIONALLY to have any chance.

And currently...we are not.

The Lakers haven’t finished above .500 since like 2012.

They’ve fricked up every way you can, but since they’re in LA, they can fail upwards. Meanwhile the Pels have to take risks to be relevant, and when they’re not perfect, they’re ridiculed.

It's like your family. You can say bad things about them and do, like we've done about the Pels FO for years and years on here.

But when someone else says the same thing about your family, it's go time!

Hopefully Loomis steps down and lets a real basketball mind run the team. Best time to do it.

frick, let Loomis fail up and give him a title like "Special Advisor to the Owner" and make him the de facto owner.

Hire a REAL POBO.

Let him make all the calls from there.

i don't know. like Cleveland before them, they just got lucky that LeBron wanted to live there. they have whiffed on every FA/move they've made, other than LeBron, over the last decade.

they're still the Lakers (Lakers exceptionalism is a thing) but LeBron couldn't get Paul George to LA last summer. we'll see what happens.

1) the Pels have been FAR from perfect for as long as they've had Davis. they deserve to be ridiculed for being a shitty organization
2) the Knicks are routinely dragged as being an abominable organization
3) Jim Buss the Younger was routinely pilloried as a clown and emperor with no clothes

I don’t mean to imply that the Pels shouldn’t be ridiculed. Just that they have less margin for error and have to take risks that teams like LA typically don’t.

The lakers won back to back titles in the last decade, and aren’t far off from being back as contenders

The Pelicans are the worst run team with a top 5 player in the last 15 years.

The Lakers with Kobe were close but they landed Pau Gasol in a trade.

Had the Pelicans had a guy who could nail the draft they could have had CJ McCollum or Giannis Antetokounmpo the following year after they drafted Davis.

That would have established the foundation the Pelicans needed to then attract a free agent or two and go from there.

Instead the Pelicans always overpaid for average free agents.

He was. But the Hornets took him because they wanted Divac.

The team that would have drafted him was the Nets. They instead took Kerry Kittles.

I just read that the league is investigating the trade demand and Davis might be fined. They are also looking for evidence of tampering from the Lakers, hopefully the focus will be on James. Lebron James has got away with all this stuff for too long. He can't manage players and their careers while he is still in the league. There is way too much conflict of interest going on..

They're only allowed to fine players $50,000 so even if they fine AD these shenanigans will continue.

Sure.

Just like the Pels landing the right ping pong balls to be able to draft Davis

Agree on margin for error. There are more avenues for the Lakers to acquire talent than for the Pels.

Not sure about risks part. The Pels just made some dumb moves born from poor planning/strategy.

You can't legislate players talking to each other

I looked up the tampering rules earlier and it's already legislated. All that recruiting the Warriors did of KD was technically tampering, the NBA just doesn't seem to care when players do it. I assume they don't care here either. Somewhere today someone posted they're in Los Angeles and this is all sports radio is talking about, not the Rams with the Super Bowl just a week away. The owners may hate and be scared shitless to see the players flexing their muscles like this, but it seems to be good for the league overall.
