Perhaps killing was an overstatement, but including the Houston game we were 8-2 in the last 10 including wins against both top seeds. I'd say that's rolling.
Going on eye test we looked great. Found ways to win and it looked like the team dell and co sold to fans in the offseason. The rest is history.

Not sure a S&T was ever on the table from the Suns. I remember reading the Suns never offered one. They were just trying to steal an asset. Losing Lopez did put into motion the Asik debacle. Asik played very well in Houston before Howard arrived. But resigning him for that stupid contract when you could have signed guys like Zaza, javale McGee or Biyombo that year for hardly nothing was just stupid. He should have never signed long term contracts (Moore, hill, Asik) and kept the roster flexible.
Honestly think the only thing that coulda kept AD here was drafting the Greek freak or Gobert the year we traded for Jrue. We needed to have guys break in on our team from the beginning. Instead of getting guys that are not happy to be traded here.

Thought about this some more and I never remember anyone else saying this so I get the credit. But the failure of Demps to make sure that Eric Bledsoe was included in the original CP trade. He was very good before getting injured in PHX. Highly unlikely we trade for Jrue or Tyreke if he and Gordon are in the backcourt. We have have just stayed the course and drafted young players until the time was right to make a trade to bring in a star to pair with Davis...

if Boogie's achilles hadn't torn

You don't get any credit because changing anything pre-davis almost assures that we never get him the first place.

it doesn’t matter who they were gonna get at the time. It matters that 15 million in cap space was dead. Immovable. Inflexible. Unable to be used to buy expiring contracts,

we were already over the cap. you have to keep salary over the cap to get the exceptions and have salary to deal, or else you end up in a shite situation being just under the cap, unable to use exceptions, etc.
it's not as nuclear as you're making it out to be and if we didn't re-sign them, it's possible we end up in a worse position (less flexibility, as paradoxical as that sounds)

I think when we traded for Boogie, we should have resigned him to a max contact or whatever he was looking for. Even after he ruptured his achielles.
Dell hung his hat on acquiring a second all star to go with AD. He found one that complemented Davis perfectly. Rondo probably would have stayed.
Instead, Dell traded one star away for another player he let walk and do rehab. Now Boogie looks to be back from his broken achielles. And we're talking about next season's team without Anthony Davis
