Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is Twitch’s golden son. He plays Fortnite for audiences of tens of thousands of viewers. Ninja gained mainstream fame when he invited hiphop artist Drake onto his channel, and he revealed that he makes $500,000 a month from viewers subscriptions.
Throw in sponsors and the donations, holy frick!!

Forbes reported an estimated $850k per month.

Don't you mean "scruffy hates his life"?
Regarding ninja, who cares. He's like the one gamer who ended up making serious money. We shouldn't admire the one guy who got super lucky

I'm absolutely going to admire someone that makes millions of dollars a year playing video games....regardless of how many(or few) it is.
Lottery winners are super lucky as hell and I'm gonna admire the shite out of them too.

I wouldn't call ninja lucky exactly. From what I can tell, dude puts in the work. He just found the golden goose.

I remember at one point before he really blew up like this, he'd have ~25k viewers per stream until he took a week off for travel and that dropped to 3k for a month or so. Streaming life can be a harsh bitch. Ninja just figured out how to make it work, and helps that his wife manages most of the business shite.
I find it funny how many people will scoff at the idea of being paid so much "for playing games". It's entertainment, same shite as these actors being paid millions for a 2 hour movie or per episode of a series. Except you have to do this every day or risk a huge drop off.

I thought he was like 17 first time I saw one of his streams. Maybe it was the blue hair...

He fell into a gold mine... 100% luck

He was already relatively prominent from Halo and h1z1. The people that are huge now were already streaming.

Lucky doesn’t mean you’re insnanely good at FPS games. Ninja is dedicated to his craft

Ninja was the first major streamer to play fortnight. Left PUBG and convinced people it was more skill based. He became better than everyone else as the game exploded. Probably 7 of the top 10 twitch streamers are there because of Fortnight. Ninja found the right game that exploded at the right time.
He is not very entertaining and most of his content is cringe. The other 3 with him last night carried him entertainment wise. He was just the first one into the market.

Evidently, a lot of people disagree with you. 100k people find him entertaining enough to pay for a subscription.
All those who keep saying it is luck are full of shite. I say this having never watched a minute of ninja. You do need to be entertaining for people to not only watch but then pony up the subscription.
He might not be entertaining to you, but clearly he is entertaining to a large chunk of folks.
Once fortnight disappears will he maintain his base or not? No clue, but I would wager his core followers will move along to the next big game along with him.

He definitely lucked into the Fortnite gold mine. He’s grinded his arse off though, so I can’t help but give him props even though he is super cringe.
Not wishing for his downfall at all but I’m really interested in seeing what happens to his stream once Fortnite inevitably dies. He streams another game and easily loses anywhere between 50%-80% of his viewers.
Regardless, he should be set for life barring any dumb money moves.

Ehh..He hasn’t had 100k subs in awhile now.
Also, most of those subs were just free Twitch prime subs (you get it with Amazon Prime). Ninja’s fan base is mostly children, so I imagine it’s mostly kids that just used mom/dad’s amazon account to get some Fortnite loot.
Eta: That 500k a month has to be a combo of Twitch and YouTube subscriptions, right?

What happens when Fornite inevitability looses popularity?
Posted on 1/1/19 at 3:30 pm to BulldogXero
If he's handling his money right, I would just retire.

I don’t think Fortnite is going anywhere. It’s still the most played, and watched game in the market right now. They’re constantly updating and changing it. The developers listen to their base, and make changes when needed. It’s amazing what Epic is doing right now.
