Correct. BAC under .08 account for roughly 5% of deaths per year, or approximately 2000. Which is a small number in the big picture. But none the less 2000 too many.

I understand the argument of millions of Americans drive at .01-.07 daily. But imagine the percentage who A. Never get caught B. Can’t handle their alcohol even at .05.

It’s impossible to measure an impaired level below .08. As I stated before, I personally don’t believe this will be a nationwide thing anytime soon.

What about the fact that alcohol probably had little to do with these deaths? People get in wrecks all the time. Most of those happening with under the legal limit would have happened anyway.

There is no way to prove that ETOH contributed to these deaths. I bet that the majority of these crashes would have happened without it.
