BR Metro Council doesn't extend Red Light Camera Contract

Baton Rouge's controversial red light camera program faces an uncertain future after the Metro Council failed to renew a contract Wednesday — a decision that could allow drivers to blow through intersections without consequences while officials scramble to fill a void in public safety funding after the current pact expires Dec. 31.
The motion to approve a renegotiated contract with American Traffic Solutions failed on a tie vote; one council member didn't vote and another was absent. City-parish Chief Administrative Officer Darryl Gissel said the proposal will likely return to the council's agenda in January.

these weren't legal tickets though since they're from a third party and not from a cop right? you could just ignore them?

You can ignore them in BR. They don't do anything about it. If they ever start I'm going to have to pony up some cash. My wife has 3 or 4 that are several years old.

or you could look up studies that show that red light cameras actually increase automotive accidents...

Well, no agenda in that little nugget.

If I photograph my neighbor breaking the law and then make him pay me for the pics isn't that illegal? If so why isn't this contractor breaking the law?

Yeah they need this to go away before more peeps get busted for geting paid off for putting them in place to start.

Yep. They have no recourse to make you pay a damn thing. I intentionally speed up when approaching the speed cameras in Baker, because frick Baker.

They could change the laws and start booting cars like Nola but they currently don't do shite. Less than 30% get paid
Posted on 12/12/18 at 9:45 pm to fallguy_1978
Where would they find the funding to administer the booting cars “program”?

Good.
Tired of getting tickets sent to me with wrong information and attempts to buffalo me into paying for it.
