shite like this is why I resist “smart” appliances.
More moving parts, actual or metaphorical, means more shite that can break and be expensive to fix.

My LG might give yours a run. It's not quite 5 yrs old and about to go to the curb.
I have a GE from the 1950's that is dumb as dumb gets but it still works after all these years and just needs to be defrosted about once a year. Still in the garage to hold ice in the freezer and beer in the fridge. Been through several in the house since I moved it out there.

Based on reviews, we have been lucky as hell with our Samsung fridge. All we have done is change the water filter every 6 months for the 5 or so years we've had it.
Usually, it's the opposite. We'll buy a product universally known to be reliable and have nothing but issues.

Samsung. Lol.
made the mistake of Buying a Samsung range last year. The glass top busted so I called for service and no one ever showed.. We call Samsung back and they had noted in our acct that we used cast iron skillet on the cooktop which apparently voided the warranty instantly.. So needless to say.. never again..

i have a refrigerator fan problem. Samsung said they have no repair technicians in my city. I live in a major metro area.

What dumb-arse buys a $4300 refrigerator?
A standard free standing fridge is absurd at this price. However as a built in, this is cheap

Yet another reason these "smart" fridges are stupid.
The more complex they are, the more components they'll have and the more expensive itll be to fix them.

Should have bought a fridge from the 70s... It would never break.

Story is shite. Smart Refrigerators cool and freeze exactly the way stupid refrigerators do so. They are just as fixable. The cooling parts are probably transferable across other refrigerators in the line. $3,000 to $7,000 non-built in fridges are common.
I probably have the same fridge. I think we only paid $3,900. Its integrated with other smart appliances and kits thru the house and we use the features a smart fridge provides often.

Hate to think what a Sub Zero sells for now. They were 8 - 12 grand in the 80's
