I was working in CA a few years back and the big story at the time was that the state was ending subsidies for people who put up solar panels. Not sure if it was because the state was losing a shite ton of money or if the utility providers were bitching about it.

You are gonna need that power infrastructure real bad after a couple cloudy days.
Which is why I said "not as dependent" instead of "no longer dependent".

How long do solar panels last?
Posted on 12/6/18 at 1:29 pm to RLDSC FAN
This will be fine in people in Southern Cali where it’s almost always sunshine and clear weather. But what about further north were they have long periods of cloudy and foggy weather?

That’s their own damned fault.
Oh, I agree. That's why I always laugh when they talk about separating from the US. They wouldn't last a week without major utilities coming in from out of state

This is a brilliant move for California since they’ve got two of the top five foggiest areas in all of North America.

How long do solar panels last?
Most panels gradually reduce to about 80% of rated power by year 20. That's a pretty good lifespan

What about the batteries?

California, aiding the gentrification and homelessness problem of their state one bill at a time.

It’s the right thing to do in the long run. Humans are smart and can figure out a way to mitigate the extra cost, and whoever does it first will become very rich.

What about the batteries?
California has hired battery fairies to keep everyone's batteries in good working order.

$10,000 minimum extra cost to build a home but it’s ok because your electricity bill will be 2 dollars cheaper every month!!
What a waste of time.
What a waste of time.

Wow, a conservative advocating for government-mandated housing appliances? Jesus Christ
This is nothing but corporate welfare
Let the market gradually and organically figure out a way to adopt green technology without hurting consumers
Don’t hurl this stuff onto Americans when it is still prohibitively expensive
xiv, I get that you are an extremely wealthy individual who doesn’t have to worry about pet political projects substantially affecting your financial livlihood, but think of middle
Class homeowners

But those costs would be offset by lower utility bills over the 30-year lifespan of the solar panels.
Too bad the systems dont last nearly anywhere that long...
