We will have 16 or 17 OLinemen on scholarship next year.
At least 6 will be tackles, maybe more.
Charles
Deculous
Traore
Rosenthal
Wire
Perry - the recruit
Savage is listed at 6'6 and that's tackle size, so... he would be #7 on the roster.

How many will be dominant pass blocking tackles by NEXT YEAR?

Because last year's #1 JUCO tackle has had such a good year?

Charles is a converted guard.
Deculus has a lot of work to do before he could ever be considered a decent tackle.
Rosenthal will be starting left tackle.

Can add Ray Parker to that list.

And I have hopes for Wire, but with Rosenthal in the mix next year it's going to be tough.

Do you think that Deculus can hang on at right tackle or will he be moved to guard?
Also was the problem that these young guys got thrown into the fire before they were ready? If this is the case which I tend to believe I can't be too hard on their play.

Secondly, it will be hard for him to hang on IF Rosenthal reaches his full potential. His upside is huge.
Thirdly, it will be hard for Rosenthal to get there with no game reps.
Deculus will at least start the year at RT (barring Magee gets it in gear or Traore fixes a bunch of things).
quote:yeah, they did. But that's what was needed. It's not like we had a choice, but they needed reps- practice and games. It's the you take your good with your bad.

quote:eh, if they weren't progressing then should be hard on them. But they are. Be very critical, just temper expectations.

I always figured Rosenthal for left tackle and Charles for right tackle. I guess Deculus could back them up.
If Kardell lost weight with his height issues is he more of a natural center?

Tramonde Moore was actually just dismissed from OU.

The answer to this question is no.

Meh. It's presumptive tackle "size" - but tackle is more about overall length, arm length and foot speed. You can make a great tackle into a good guard fairly easily. It's much tougher to convert a monster guard into an above average tackle.
Just ask LSU - they've been trying to do the latter for decades to minimal success.

Have you seen pictures of Kardell Thomas ... at all?
Big Boy is closer to being a natural 400 pound man than a 300 pound man. And he is very agile at that size. He is the most natural offensive guard you ever saw in your life coming out of high school. Essentially a bigger framed Herman Johnson, but no height because he has no neck - his massive noggin (and I bet he wears a size 8 1/4 hat) is just directly attached to his shoulders.
I bet he wears a size 58 or 60 coat. Kardell Thomas is one of the biggest frame 18-year olds you ever saw in your life.

lol, all true Ace... all of it.
I will say this, for his size and frame Kardell moves exceptionally well. If he had more length what could've been. I'll also note he has some of the best technique, especially hands, that I've ever seen in a high schooler. He's light years ahead of your average OG walking through the doors for the first time. Not just a little, a lot.
As for Kardell at C... I have no doubt they'll at least try him as the backup OG-to-C. Make calls (yeah, no go for freshmen) and snap (under center, pistol, shotgun- you don't know until you try) and the two things that make a C instead of an OG.
But when you move that way, with that frame, with Davis and Emery, every offensive coach is dreaming of counters. Pulling guards has been an issue for us this year (some of it on the RBs). Kardell moves so well it's hard not to think of that.
