Moorea instead of Bora Bora.
Absolutely this. Bora Bora is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but Moorea is a far prettier and more exotic island. It is also relatively untouched compared to Bora Bora.
I did a several week trip to French Polynesia several years ago. We spent a week anchored in a cove in Moorea and the island is just incredible.

I thought I clearly answered his question. My buddy went to Tahiti for 10 days on his honeymoon and they spent close to 20k. Not sure how long OP is wanting to be gone. The daily cash burn rate in French Polynesia and the Maldives is astronomical.

Not 10 days. Thinking more 6-7 days tops.

You’re going to spend a total of 3 days getting to and from the South Pacific. Factor that in.
Lots of choices in the Caribbean and lots of folks on here who can advise based on actual experience.

El dorado maroma is the place outside of playa del Carmen. The resort is amazing. We went for our 15th anniversary this past summer. Palafitos should run anywhere from 1200-2000 a night. We did not stay in the Palafitos

Have you considered a crewed catamaran? Depending on when you go and what size, you can get close to the $10k you are looking at.

Would be outstanding in the BVI or St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
There's nothing like sailing the BVI.

I agree. I prefer it too. But that's hearsay here.
I read history and decided I wanted to see where the Bounty was scuttled. So there I went. It made sense. I wouldn't want to leave there either.

We found French Polynesia amazing. When we went to Bora Bora (1986) it was much more of a remote island than now. There were only a couple of places to stay and not very many restaurants outside of the resort. The same with the Yasawa Islands in Fiji. There was nothing there but natives. We've toyed with the idea of going back but I'm not sure I want to see the progress since then. Everything was so pristine.
