"Justin jefferson is a nice player but looks like a solid number 2 or 3 guy"

Landry: "yeah. They've had problems under 2 different regimes now developing young receiver talent. Sullivan is an old school guy who doesn't feel comfortable putting the freshmen out there full time. I say you have to put your best athletes and playmakers on the field. Let them run 1 or 2 routes and make plays. Giles is a guy who isn't fast and can't get open. They have young talent in Chase and Marshall."

It’s true. We have the talent. But we can’t develop it. Odell and Jarvis were great for our standards in college, but they did far more against better defenders in their first year in the NFL bc they had real coaching

Sammy Watkins made a killing on those behind the LOS his entire career. Why can't we do it?

Chris Landry is an idiot and so is anyone else who doesn’t think Sullivan is a good WR coach.
Jarvis didn’t do crap until the 2nd half of his sophomore season and Odell was good as a freshman them had a semi slump his sophomore year
Stephan Sullivan, Dee Anderson, and Dillon are light years better than they were last year

So far as I am concerned Giles has his opportunities. Bench him.

Landry isn't wrong but I can't stand him because he just parrots things that everyone already knows and then calls himself and expert.

The Giles thing is one of the top talking points of the week. Everyone knows there is an issue there.

Yes Jefferson is a nice player and a solid receiver, and he's number one right now because he's out best option. No, he wouldn't be number one at Bama or Ole Miss becsuse they have better WRs than we do.

What is he talking about? We have had passing problems, overall offensive problems, but generally speaking out WRs have been pretty good.
NFL draft
2018 Chark second round, Gauge 6th
2017 Dupre 7th
2014 Beckham 1, Landry 2
2012 Randle 2
2010 LaFell 3

Who puts a lot of freshmen at WR fulltime? Some freshman start, but Most are back ups at best who play more as they mature and learn.

Look at Devonta Smith at Bama. He played in every one of their games. He caught 8 passes in 14 games. Jerry Jeudy caught 14 passes. These two are high end talents.

There are exceptions like Ridley and others, but generally speaking the young receivers do not make the impact until later in their careers. At least not in the SEC.

Look at Ja'Marr Chase. 7 catches already. Marshall has 5. Not a lot, but certainly on pace to go what Smith and Jeudy did last year.

Chris Landry has his opinions, but he's no more of an expert than a lot of guys on the net. He just has a platform and most do not. If he would be as good of a scout as he says he is, some NFL team would have hired him years ago.

I posted nearly the same thing, my words not Landry's, in another thread this week and I was a supporter of the Sullivan hire. I love that he's a very technical coach, but right now we have some incredibly talented young kids that are better than Giles. Find the routes that they can run and get them some targets. Chase needs to start. Give him some fades, slants and go's and let him use his ball skills vs the DB.
