So far as I am concerned Giles has his opportunities. Bench him.

You do remember that their receiver coach was Adam Henry. Henry is in the NFL right now coaching Landry in Cleveland.
That explains why Antonio Callaway still sucks

Landry isn't wrong but I can't stand him because he just parrots things that everyone already knows and then calls himself and expert.
The Giles thing is one of the top talking points of the week. Everyone knows there is an issue there.

"Justin jefferson is a nice player but looks like a solid number 2 or 3 guy"
Yes Jefferson is a nice player and a solid receiver, and he's number one right now because he's out best option. No, he wouldn't be number one at Bama or Ole Miss becsuse they have better WRs than we do.

Landry: "yeah. They've had problems under 2 different regimes now developing young receiver talent
What is he talking about? We have had passing problems, overall offensive problems, but generally speaking out WRs have been pretty good.
NFL draft
2018 Chark second round, Gauge 6th
2017 Dupre 7th
2014 Beckham 1, Landry 2
2012 Randle 2
2010 LaFell 3

Sullivan is an old school guy who doesn't feel comfortable putting the freshmen out there full time
Who puts a lot of freshmen at WR fulltime? Some freshman start, but Most are back ups at best who play more as they mature and learn.
Look at Devonta Smith at Bama. He played in every one of their games. He caught 8 passes in 14 games. Jerry Jeudy caught 14 passes. These two are high end talents.
There are exceptions like Ridley and others, but generally speaking the young receivers do not make the impact until later in their careers. At least not in the SEC.
Look at Ja'Marr Chase. 7 catches already. Marshall has 5. Not a lot, but certainly on pace to go what Smith and Jeudy did last year.
Chris Landry has his opinions, but he's no more of an expert than a lot of guys on the net. He just has a platform and most do not. If he would be as good of a scout as he says he is, some NFL team would have hired him years ago.

I can’t believe how pissy our fan base has become.... it’s really sad....

Bama also had a go-to game breaker in Calvin Ridley. This LSU team doesn't have a guy like that. The "best" reciever (Jefferson) is more of a possession WR who occasionally makes some big plays similar to Gage last year. The other two top WR's (Anderson and Sullivan) are big targets and great matchups, but neither is a guy that necessarily worries defenses about huge plays.
Chase seemingly is a guy who COULD make big plays in space as well as on deeper routes (he has 7 catches and 3 should be TD). No one is saying he should be the No. 1 guy as a freshman, but why not design a few plays a game to get him the ball in space?
You can't teach raw athletic ability. If he has more of it than every other WR's then wouldn't you want to try to get a little bit out of it. Hell, just put him on the Giles routes to see if he could break the tackles Giles can't

And maybe we did design a few plays for him and he scored?
He has two TD catches.
Chase is good, something set him back last week. I don't know what it was, but he's still learning, maturing and trying to get in sync with everyone else.
Watch him take off this year or next year for sure.

Let them run 1 or 2 routes and make plays. Giles is a guy who isn't fast and can't get open. They have young talent in Chase and Marshall."
I posted nearly the same thing, my words not Landry's, in another thread this week and I was a supporter of the Sullivan hire. I love that he's a very technical coach, but right now we have some incredibly talented young kids that are better than Giles. Find the routes that they can run and get them some targets. Chase needs to start. Give him some fades, slants and go's and let him use his ball skills vs the DB.

What, in your mind, would have been the level they should have been on in college? stats-wise

My son used to live in the married student apartments and he played basketball with him and a few other players sometimes. He had a wife and about a 5 y/o kid in college.
I went over for a visit one day and he came out dressed in a silk looking shirt and stretched bell bottom plants. Looked like he was straight up mob. He had a cutlass supreme or some kind of car like that. Befofe the draft, he was driving a full sized blazer. I guess I now now why he chose a Blazer.

Unfortunately, LSU WR's are long striders. That's great if you are running the 100 or 200 meters in T/F...it's not so good getting in and out of cuts. Really good athletes but no burst on their first or second step. Plus, both Ensminger and Sullivan are West Coast guys...no bubbles, no tunnels, no quick screens of any kind. Finally, watch great passing offenses...if the QB is throw on the 3rd step, that foot hits the ground on the 3rd step and the ball is gone...LSU's passing game is still in it's growth stage...there is very little that says its a finished product. Remember, Burrow is here because he wasn't as good as Haskins and if you watch Haskins, you'll see why.

100%
I think it's a waste to only use Chase in his current capacity. He needs some of Jefferson's routes/targets
