coach O comments about the "spot"

Not satisfied with his comment.
What got me going is on that particular play he rushed the kicker out there instead of calling a time out.
It felt like we had to hurry up or the half was going to end. A big time coach would challenge it and get more information.
If we would've scored a touchdown it would really kick Florida in the balls.

rushed the kicker out
quote:I agree he should have called timeout. I saw at least 3 LSU players signaling first down including Burrow. There's no way O did not know how close it was. He should not have let the ball get snapped without seeing a replay. If that means calling a timeout, then he should have done that.
calling a time out

Impossible for sideline coaches to see if the spot was right from their angle.
Whoever had that responsibility in the booth made a MAJOR blunder, and should NEVER have that job again.
LSU might have won the game with the right spot.

It was dumb.
He needs to be involved in that decision.. more than any other decision.. that's actually what he has to manage there.. i hated his decision to just hustle out there and kick, no matter what. needed to think that one out.. i wanted to go for it.. qb sneak is pretty hard to stop 4th and 1.
He also needs better people watching the feed and a way to call someone on the field to absolutely challenge. Surely we have the technology in today's time to get this done. He makes millions, so he should have a better system.. unless this is some sort of violation I don't know about.

Huge mistake and no excuse- O gets paid plenty to make decisions and that non challenge was huge
If that’s overturned which it would if been, tigers win that game

“Rushed” refers to when we sent the field goal team out to the field, not to when the ball was snapped.

Did we have a timeout left when that half was over? If so, will we be allowed to use it in some future game? Of course, it was someone else’s fault.

It all goes back to not being qualified for this job. It is all the little things that will start to add up!

As opposed to Miles, who would have clusterfricked on the sidelines so long, he would've HAD to call a time out. Then they would have asked for a review, then the call would've been upheld, and then another timeout wasted, then the kick for 3 points to take the lead.
What EdO did was exactly what he should have done. He doesn't watch the game on TV, he coaches it on the field in real time with no replays. He depends on the staff in the booth to make the call for a review (just like every single other coach in football). Since he didn't get the call for a review, he went quickly with his decision to take the lead in the 2nd qtr of a tied game - without wasting a time out.
I would rather have a coach who doesn't rely on technology and technical replays, and just makes split-second decisions on the field with his team ready to go.

Well, this is stupid.

Fire the guy who hired him too.

No, it's coaching.
It's what everyone wanted from Miles, decisive coaching on the sidelines without dicking around. If the booth had told him to ask for a review, he would've done it. Absent that, he did exactly the right thing - and in a timely manner. No confusion, no second guessing, just making the right decisions in split second timing.
That call didn't lose the game, what lost the game was an inability to get pressure on Franks, and the inability to keep pressure off of Burrow.
I was really disappointed with the defense, and it wasn't the first time this season. Aranda needs to step up and earn that giant salary.

I don’t disagree with your assessment of that particular play. I was commenting on your Luddite-like, “get off my lawn” comment.

Why is Ree downvoting all the good posts?

And every other head coach will be using technology to beat us. What a dumb statement.

The amazing thing was O said he wasn’t sure if the booth guy was watching the TV broadcast feed! That’s what you’re f ing paid to know coach!

Are you retarded or something? Seriously.

We got a bad spot but it wasn’t a first down anyways. I don’t think the coaches thought it was a first down
