So Murkowski will not vote yes but she won’t vote No?

She’s allowed to abstain?

She fails to vote yes for confirmation and she’s done as a US Senator.

Well didn’t she come out and say she isn’t voting yes?

Maybe she's taking some hints from President Obama and will simply vote "PRESENT". After all, taking no sides got him to the White House.

Yeah, its a political strategy. Keep your foot in both doors so people cant say you voted against him. She gets to appease "due process" without electing him to the court

I don’t get this. Not voting is the same as No to me. Just like manchin throwing in his vote knowing we got the 50 needed. You get no brownie points for that shite.

Let me be the first to congratulate Senator Palin.

She is voting “Present” so the Senator, whose daughter is getting married, doesn’t have to fly back to vote and miss the wedding.

Her voting no has no impact since Flake, Collins, and Manchin are a YES. So this scenario isn’t true.
With those 3 minus the Montana wedding guy they have 50. Murkowski voting NO doesn’t matter. It would be 50-49.

Yep. It's a courtesy thing that has been done before between senators of opposing votes.

So if all goes as planned, it would be 50-48?
Posted on 10/5/18 at 11:16 pm to Old Sarge
If she had any soul she’d vote yes as a proxy for Daines so he doesn’t have to do it on his daughters wedding day.

If Manchin votes Yes, but in that case he would be the deciding vote.
So, if Manchin votes No, it is 49 to 50, so the MT Senator would have to fly to DC to vote Y.
If Murkowski votes Present & Manchin No; it is 49 Y, 49 N &1 Present & the VP breaks the tie.
If Manchin is Yes it is 50 Y, 48 N & 1 Present. Murkowski agreeing to vote Present is an insurance policy for confirmation and the MT Senator does not have to fly to DC.
All that is assuming Flake is still a Yes.
WHAT A MESS.

Nope she clearly deciding to join the democrats by abstaining. A no vote or no vote at all is the same thing.

she gone no matter what
sarah palin said she would see her in 2022 when she tries for re-election, seems like that was a shot across the box so she is history

She made a deal with Daines - she votes "present' so that he doesn't have to come to DC to vote - then would have just canceled each other out .
SO by not voting 'nay' he doesn't have to come to cancel her vote.
Good for her on that at least.

Not the first time Murkowski has pulled this kind of stunt. Shes more of a Libertarian than Republican. I heard her reasoning and its justified bullshite. I hope Palin beats her in a Mt. McKinley style avalanche in 2022.

I don't like this at all. A R is promised that his absence of a yay vote is covered.
Dems gonna find pics of Murkowski in bed with illegal children in the next 12 hours.

Yes, that is nice of her. I would still vote against her though for voting no for cloture.
