Snowmaking operations have begun at A Basin. Should get an opening well before Halloween.
Got a quick Summit County trip planned week before Christmas. Probably doing Whistler in January and Tahoe in March.
Lots of knowledgable folks on here for any general ski, lodging and restaurant questions.

I have a Steamboat Springs trip in July. My first time there, and I've heard good things about it on this board.
Any non-skiing activities/ breweries/restaurants in the area worth trying?

Looking for info on Mt. Baker anyone ever been?

Son and I are going to Steamboat the week before Christmas and then staying in SLC for his spring break in late March to hit up Brighton, Snowbird and maybe Solitude.
Hoping to also get a chance to get a quick solo trip to Jackson Hole or Big Sky in Jan/Feb but looks like coaching kids sports will get in the way.

I’ll be working at A-Basin and living at the base of Keystone this winter. I’m hoping to ski all around CO and maybe sneak a trip over to Tahoe to visit a friend of mine and ski Squaw.
If anyone wants to grab a beer or ski a few laps while in Summit County this winter let me know.

I really liked Mazzola's for Italian food in Steamboat.
I got Mountain Collective again this year. Last year on that same pass we did our big planned trip to Jackson Hole and a second trip to Banff to ski Sunshine and Lake Louise.
This year we're thinking about Mammoth for a big trip and open to several options for another trip. Likely Banff again or Utah to ski Alta/Snowbird since those are logistically relatively easy. Snow conditions usually determine location for the less planned trips. Aspen also a dark horse option.

Wife and I are going to Park City first week of December. I’m sure we’ll ski a little bit, but we’re beginners and want to enjoy other parts of the trip, so I don’t anticipate us being on the slopes all day everyday.
What are some things to do and places to eat? Someone told me to go down to Sundance just to check it out, but I’m pretty much lost otherwise.
Also, we’ll be flying into SLC. Would it benefit us to rent a car or should we uber/taxi to Park City? Leaning towards renting a car because we’ll be trying to do more than just ski.

I came looking for this thread to see if Banff was mentioned, and here it was on page 1. I've never been, but it looks amazing from what I've seen so far.
Few questions: what is y'all's favorite time to go there? How pricey is everything? Where have y'all stayed for lodging?

Banff was great when I went last year. From what I’ve seen, it’s cheaper to go during ski season than the summer which is opposite of most ski mountains. The problem is it gets brutally cold. We went Easter weekend so it wasn’t too cold, but not really spring conditions that most places experience that time of year. So I’d recommend going in the spring. Crowds were manageable.
We stayed in Canmore. Wherever you stay between the towns of Banff or Canmore, you’re going to have to drive a little to get to the mountain. Unless you pony up and stay at the Fairmont on Louise. For the skiing, I preferred Lake Louise over Sunshine. Check out a trail map for Louise, the backside was incredible.

Is the Ikon pass worth the money? I live 4.5 to 6 hours from most of the areas on it in Colorado.

You can figure at least $100/day for a lift ticket and easily do the math to decide if the pass is worth it. Just depends on how many days you want to ski this season. Most passes are more than worth it if you do a couple trips.

Somebody school me on where the best snow is for the early ski season (around Christmas/New Year's). I've always been spring skiing, but the family schedules dictate an earlier trip this year.

A Basin looking like its winter. Might get an opening there next week.

Tough to predict. Most of the CO I70 corridor resorts are usually around 75% open by Christmas though

I'm in the lead with my Cerro Catedral Argentina trip in August.
I bought the Ikon season pass this year. Then my work tells me they're blacking out vacation from jan 7 - mar 15 . I'm going to freeze to death at Sunshine Village and Lake Louise that 1st week of January.
