...this will be a 10+ win team. I'm buying more and more into the hype, and I honestly just don't see how Miami will steadily move the ball on our defense.

We have no idea what the offense is going to look like, but neither do the Hurricanes! If Burrow is any better than Etling was, which isn't an extremely high barometer, this team will win 10+ games and move the ball better than any offense we've seen since Mettenberger was slinging the rock.

Perfectly natural for this time of the year.

Doesn't necessarily mean he's wrong. I've found myself becoming a little more optimistic as the season approaches. It started with Burrow and Fulton goes a long way with that too.

If you really want to feel optimistic tonight, go watch Burrow in the Ohio St spring game.

ETA: The OL will be just fine. We are in much better shape there than a year ago and last year’s OL was pretty solid.

I don't put a lot of stock into spring games. We'll see him in 8 days under the bright lights with live bullets flying. I would rather wait to see him then.

I just don’t see how anyone could be so confident when our HC and OC are both proven failures at their current positions.

It sucks, but facts are facts.

Exactly.

I’ll treat this year as if I was from Missouri.

Same. They fooled me last summer with the multiple and spread the ball out to the playmakers comments. I wanna see what we're working with next week.

I’m in the same boat. What’s crazy is we might be just a few weeks away from O being the toast of LA. Seems unthinkable now with such a high % of the fan base giving him no shot of being a winner at LSU. But what if the best case scenario happens? It’s weird to think we might be in the final days of this period of skepticism toward O by the fans.

On paper defense looks great top to bottom, holes are now filled on every level and we should be better on every level. Special teams has filled the holes and looks improved as well. On offense I believe our Wr corps is an upgrade. The rbs will not be as good and the oline and qb are question marks where I do think we have a decent shot at being improved. I would settle for Etlingesque qb play and how our oline looked at the end of the year for sure though. With the added coaching staff behind the scenes I think coach O will cover up amost inadequacies that we are worried about on Game day. I just do not see a 500 football team here, we will be in the hunt for 10 wins. At auburn, uga, and Bama are our 3 biggest tests imo......we win one of those and hopefully beat everyone else.

Well, that seems to be the main thing on everyones mind, what will the offense look like. Ensminger promises a more wide open offense, but you really just don't know. The OLine despite Ingram's absence should still be somewhat solid imo because they have some solid Olinemen like LT Saahdiq Charles, Brumfield, and I think big Damien Lewis and Traore will be solid. But LSU has a wealth of talent at WR and that is the stremgth of the offense, so they have to pass the ball all over the place on Miami. Also, I think Edwards-Helaire is a explosion waiting to happen, and Brosette will surprise along with Curry. The offense just comes down to Burrows and what Ensminger has him doing, really.

Defense should be beasting now with Fulton back, that was huge.

Against Miami we need to pound the ball right them. They are smallish on the line and very good at takeaways in the passing game. Id force them to stack the box and then See what Burrow can do.

It really doesn't matter, man, it's the first game of the season and a lot of mistakes will be made, that's how it usually flows. That strategy you're talking about is for a game from the middle of the season onwards when teams really are in the groove and know who they are by then. I say pass them silly with your big and talented WR's.

Seems like a contradiction.

Our oline is going to be huge compared to their dline. Their skill guys are pretty good and pretty fast. Just hard for me not to think we will be churning out 4 to 7 yards a carry if they dont bunch up. This is not a stratagy that will work against the bama’s and uga’s on our schedule, but I think its a good bet against tha U.

Tell me how?? A lot of penalties are usually called in games early in the season because teams are getting used to playing again, and the point I'm making is about getting their defense in trouble with a lot of calls. A lot of pass interference calls an whatever else. In truth, penalties will be called on both sides of the ball, but my point as I said was in reference to Miami's defense.

I understand your point, I just think it really doesn't matter this early on, but we'll see, who knows what Ensminger will do.

Because when you say a lot of mistskes will be made, to me the thing to do is pass the ball as little as possible to try to eliminate mistakes in the passing game.
