B.R. reporter - LSU's season on the brink grows more precarious

Rabalais - At the top of Lowell Narcisse’s Twitter account is pinned a message he wrote from March 2016:
“One of the hardest decision(s) you’ll ever face in life is choosing whether to walk away or try harder.”
On a bombshell day for the LSU football program, Narcisse, the redshirt freshman from St. James, decided to walk away. Apparently not liking the trend the four-man LSU quarterback derby was taking, he is taking his ball and heading elsewhere.
Fourth-year junior Justin McMillan may not be far behind.
He has not even named a front-runner, saying the practice repetitions are being kept at an even mix, though arguably the time is now for someone to be No. 1.
Orgeron said he promised Burrow only a chance to compete. LSU’s incumbent quarterbacks — McMillan, Narcisse and Myles Brennan — were offered the same chance after an inconclusive spring practice in which none of them charged to the front of the line.
Apparently, though, something changed after the Tigers' first preseason scrimmage Saturday. Though the numbers Orgeron provided from the closed session painted a picture of a tight grouping, one has to believe the LSU coaching staff showed the team a depth chart afterward, and that the numbers there did not please at least two pairs of eyes.
If Burrow gets injured or struggles, and if Brennan can not take up the reins in a satisfactory fashion, and if McMillan leaves as well, the Tigers would be left with precious few other options.
There is Andrew Sale, a transfer from Tennessee Tech; Jordan Loving, a walk-on from Riverside Academy; and a bevy of other talented athletes dotting LSU’s roster who were quarterbacks in their previous prep lives.
However it turns out, a season on the brink for LSU just got, well, brinkier.

ESPN - Narcisse and McMillan were both absent from practice on Tuesday.
In May, before Burrow announced his intention to transfer, Orgeron told ESPN he did not expect any of his three QB competitors to transfer.
"Every one of them have a viable chance to start at LSU and play -- and they know it," Orgeron said. "So why would you leave?"
Orgeron has media availability on Wednesday and is expected to address the situation with his quarterbacks then.-

This is the same if situation for every fricking team in the country.

Rabalais with catastrophe syndrome just like many others... rather they quit now than during a game. We can focus on Miami instead of As the QB Turns.

That's actually funny because when I went to his twitter that was pinned at the top with his transfer note right below it.

No Problem? Didn't somebody with "inside" information say Loving was the best QB on the team?

Yes he has. He just hasn’t told us yet. It’s unfortunate Narcisse was the one to transfer, but this is not LSU on the brink growing “more precarious.” This is the transfer clearly being the home run. We have the PASSER we need, and we need to not look back. After all the dual threats who NEVER, EVER worked out, why are we so butthurt about Lowell?
Yea. Packages with Narcisse would’ve been cool as hell. Move on.

If this happens, I’m sure we could use one of our receivers as a QB. I’m sure a lot of them were QBs in high school...

I totally disagree.
With Narcisse transferring the LSU offense can now focus on a totally pro-style offense. I know that run-pass-option type offenses offer different challenges for defenses however you have to be a special kind of athlete to be successful and remain injury free in that type of offense, a la Cam Newton, Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, Tim Tebow, etc. Those kinds of athletes just don't come along that often and unfortunately when they do come available they seem to go elsewhere besides LSU.
Narcisse kind of reminds me of Auburn's Jeremy Johnson. Remember when Auburn tried to fit Jeremy Johnson into the Cam Newton run-pass-option offense? Yeah, it didn't work out too well. Jeremy Johnson was just not the athlete that Cam is/was and I just get the impression that Narcisse is not durable enough to run that type of offense for the entire season.
I know this seems like bad news, however this will turn out being a good decision for both LSU and Narcisse. I respect him for his decision. It will turn out well for both parties.

"a season on the brink just got brinkier". Give me a f___ing break. Who in the hell have we lost to to be on the brink of a precarious season? Someone please notify Saban that his season is on the brink because they haven't played a game yet. That dribble should be an embarrassment for a wanna be sports writer who seems to be striving for applause and recognition from the negative chicken littles who secretly are hoping for a total collapse of this season. His dribble implies that is his agenda.

That's a lot of ifs. Worrying about not having a 3rd string QB is idiotic.
Our season would be over no matter how many QBs are on the roster if they need to play 3 QBs.

The season on the brink seems like a stretch. We are thin at a position where we were deep. If Burrow stays healthy and is decent it won't matter much.
Posted on 8/15/18 at 8:56 am to TrueTigerTale
So he's transferring to a school which doesn't have multiple, talented QBs ? Good luck.
Posted on 8/15/18 at 8:59 am to TrueTigerTale
if Burrow gets injured, we're in trouble regardless of who is our no. 2. All 3 of our other guys aren't ready.

There are very few college football programs who can succeed if QB1 and QB2 go down.
Ohio State did it. Clemson and Bama could probably still be very good.
The ability to win with the next man in line is what makes programs elite.

I am anxious to know how many other teams he feels would continue to flourish if they lost their first and second string QB's?!? I think this "Season on the brink" would apply to most all college football teams if it came down to the third string QB!

I dont get these types of articles. Like, what if half of the teams in the SEC lost 1st and 2nd string QB's. Would they be any better? LOL wtf...
