Here lies the argument. U believe the anthem is sacred and I believe (after talking to several vets) that you can have a legal, peaceful protest during the anthem and it not disrespect vets but highlight the very thing those vets fought for.....and I understand not all vets may feel this way.

Trump quadrupling down like this will force the pussy Goodell to back down and let the players protest. This will ensure it’s an issue through the first 1/2 of the season and during much of the campaign season.
A great wedge issue that should help the GOP hold the house IMO. If the GOP House candidates simply hold serve in the GOP+ districts they will maintain control.

Well what are you even arguing? Its not a 1A issue, let them have their freedoms. This is what was fought for, FREEDOM!

Thats fine and dandy, go do it on the street, or in DC, or your state Capitol. How many of us (non union) employees would be able to get away with bringing our personal feelings to work in order to "protest". Hint: The answer is none.

If a handful of black people think something is “racist”, that’s enough for their opinion to be recognized, and we kind of stop doing the thing that offends them - even if it’s ridiculous (using “guerilla” as an adjective during a sporting event, for example).
When over 50% of football fans think that kneeling during the anthem is disrespectful, we should have the same courtesy extended to us.

These players have no respect for the men who died serving our country. It’s disgusting.
I mean, we can sit here and make assumptions all day long.

For the 5th time, because they don’t have the freedom to make a political protest in their uniform at their job that alienates half of the current and potential customers and decrease revenue for their business if their boss says they don’t.
You’ve consistently said in this thread they have the 1A right to protest at work. Now they don’t? So we agree on this?

Everyone gets this...but people that fought for it, look to that flag as the only thing that didn't betray their service...

i agree with much of the sentiment, but i do not agree with the president suggesting penalties for this behaviour, suspended without pay. Let the private businesses manage their business
At the 30K foot level I agree BUT since the NFL is raking in hundreds of millions off of Fed tax breaks, frick 'em.

This is the only issue I disagree with Trump on and I TOTALLY disagree with him on it. I am pro constitution and pro the President staying out of private company's policies because I support a representative democracy over any president.

the NFL is pathetic. People that support the illiterate morons on the field kneeling....even worse than pathetic.

When a handful of vets think this protest is aimed at them then we just ignore and shun the others who understand they fought for these rights and could possibly support this protest? Goes both ways.

rseshit. Several of the football players claim to be oppressed or been oppressed by cops.
I particularly like the seattle player being "oppressed" hiding behind the slot machine that time

And no vet should disagree but you're missing the OTHER protest part; counter protesting

Of course their bosses have the right to punish them but if they choose not to, let them have their freedoms. Why is this an issue? Its a private company. Do we look at the policies of a Koch Industries, Wal-Mart, or Subway so closely. These guys are upsetting you way too much.
