Invoking Voltaire over one's "right" to a Facebook account.

I don’t disagree, but they can easily control the flow of information. That’s power. The ultimate power. That should scare anyone, regardless of political affiliation. Now, what can be done about it, idk. But I think it’s reasonable to be concerned.
Should newspapers require a government license to operate? Should they have in the past, before radio, TV, and the internet?

I find 9/11 conspiracy theories to be disgusting, but I don't wish to silence the people that believe them. An open discussion of ideas is healthy for society, even fringe ones.
I think YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, et al... have got it wrong, not that I like Alex Jones, but they are just picking a fight here for not a good reason, and it appears to be collusion among them.

Several problems with this argument - YT and FB serve in a public forum capacity. Also, even most liberals will admit that they do not apply their standards fairly between political views.
For those reasons I say your comparison to bakers is Apples and oranges.
There’s no way you can truly believe there is a difference except because your politics get in the way of clear thought.

They are private businesses than can tell Alex Jones to go to hell as much as bakers and candlestick makers can tell homosexuals to go to hell.

That’s not even remotely close to the same thing, unless you’re calling Alex Jones the equivalent of Donald Trump.

Another quote from the same article I linked on page 4:
"Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said restricting social media access is dangerous because "these people are being cut off from a very large part of the marketplace of ideas. And the First Amendment includes not only the right to speak, but the right to receive information."

It's misleading, but you know that already since I already replied to you in another thread.

Watching you parrot Pvt. Bungle is sad as hell

The actual judge's decision -
quote:
We hold that portions of the @realDonaldTrump
account -- the “interactive space” where Twitter users may directly
engage with the content of the President’s tweets -- are properly
analyzed under the “public forum” doctrines set forth by the
Supreme Court, that such space is a designated public forum, and
that the blocking of the plaintiffs based on their political speech
constitutes viewpoint discrimination that violates the First
Amendment.

you know that already since I already replied to you in another thread.
quote:quote:Fruit of the same tree. If the account and feed are the "public forum" how does a private platform gain right to remove them.
The judge actually said Trump's account and feed were a public forum, not the platform as a whole.
Taken to the specific point, if Trump cannot block responses, would the Judge allow Twitter itself to block them, acting as Trump's proxy. Whoops!

That’s precisely what I’m not advocating. These Goliath companies can almost act as a governments in suppressing ideas & opinions. I’ll freely admit I don't have a solution, but the potential for suppression & corruption are frightening nonetheless.

This was a coordinated effort to boot him from social media and online content

So, to clarify, you want to restrict these companies 1A right of free association?

I like The War Room with Owen Shrouryer(sp). He has good guests.
Alex has taken too much Brain Force. He's gone off the deep end.
HRC legitimized Alex Jones with her "Alt-Right Speech".She took the bait.No one could believe she was stupid enough to take it,but she proved she was.
