Not to mention he wants to institute religious liberty laws, which would likely cost business.

Know what would cost more business? Raising state taxes.

But he's a dullard, and a bad overall candidate. There is a reason everyone who has spoken to him at any length says that.

The guy is a good ole boy redneck with a slow southern drawl, but he's no idiot.

He's got solid policies and a defined plan to execute them all.

Here's a long interview with him from a few weeks back.

A real downside of a society built on charisma rather than ethics is that effective, task-oriented people are often written off as less important.

Don't worry, after the election, she probably will be out of debt, with her campaign deep in debt, win or lose.

Pretty sure I read where Abrams wants to make Georgia a "Sanctuary State" for Illegal Immigrants. Talk about idiotic.

Exactly, just insulting people’s intelligence. I lose respect for anyone who runs stupid ads like this.

Yes I know. I just wish kemp wasn’t your typical southern conservative. I’d gladly take 4 more years of Nathan the Real Deal over either of these 2.

What are you basing this on?

Kemp has redneck bonafides a bit, but he's absolutely played that up more in the last 6 months than in the previous 10 years of public life. Idiot is harsh, but again, this has nothing to do with commercials or his accent.

I've always said that Democrats support raising YOUR taxes, not theirs.

I don’t think he will reverse any of the good progress that we have had with alcohol laws

He's a UGA grad, born and bred in Georgia, and talks like it. But he's not a "dullard" like you said.

And you can go to YT and watch videos of him talking politics. He's done debates with Cagle and interviews with media and displayed more than sufficient political prowess and intellect.

If you can't be responsible enough to pay your taxes and fullfill your obligation to your country, then you should not be running for any office.

“For a lot of folks who are doing quarterly taxes, there is a temptation — because it is cash that is sitting there — to spend it on the other insistent things in your life,” Abrams said. For her, that was helping to pay for her father’s cancer treatment.

Seems like it would be pretty easy to produce receipts of this and people would probably be more sympathetic if that's what the money was actually spent on.

I would argue you're incorrect. And it has nothing to do with being "born and bred in Georgia," (so am I). It has to do with how well a professional who is going to run the state can comprehend and resolve issues.

I'm quite certain a number of Kemp colleagues from Georgia politics who speak with the same drawl and have the same hobbies and who are just as conservative as him would agree that he's not a particularly bright guy. He's decent at Georgia politics, which isn't the same thing, but is aptitude he should get credit for.

Whether he needs to be particularly intelligent to run the state is a different discussion. I'll vote for him because I have to, but the commentary from the other poster that sparked this back and forth is pretty accurate.

Kemp would probably still win outside of Atlanta, but I think most democrats and republicans in the metro would love to see Deal for another term.

Don't you just love it when conservatives want people to "pay their fair share"?

We can quibble about what's "fair", but she needs to pay her taxes as dictated by law. Laws aren't for show.

You know... like immigration.

But don't worry. Your kept media (this time, TIME magazine) took a break from slandering the president to completely ignore Abrams' tax hypocrisy and write a cover story on her dripping with praise.
