'03-'04..... 18-11
'04-'05..... 20-10
'05-'06..... 23-9
'06-'07..... 17-15
'07-'08..... 13-18

Stanford
'02-'03..... 24-9 (Mike Montgomery)
'03-'04..... 30-2 (Mike Montgomery)
'04-'05..... 18-13 (Trent Johnson)
'05-'06..... 16-14 (Trent Johnson)
'06-'07..... 18-13 (Trent Johnson)
'07-'08..... 28-8 (Trent Johnson)

I'm calling bullshite on this coaching rumor. No way LSU would hire this guy after what he did in 4 years at Stanford.

'07-'08..... 28-8 (Trent Johnson)

disclaimer: record achieved with two athletic seven foot twins.

Don't know much about the guy or his reputation but hopefully he brings a lot more to the table than his Stanford won/ loss record shows.

Remember recruiting is part of coaching

He'll have more options down here than an IVY league type school.

There you have it. Proof positive that no matter WHO the LSU administration hires, SOME Rantard is going to bitch about it.

probably harder to compete at stanford with the academic standards they have being a little higher

There is also a big difference because at Stanford its basically impossible to recruit because of the ridiculous academic standards. He couldn't get the athletes. Thats what makes what Mike Montgomery did so amazing.

He'll do great at a school like LSU where he can recruit who he wants in an area with amazing talent for the size of state.

Johnson hasn't had a losing season in 7 years. Brady just laid 2 on LSU *after* the miracle Final Four run.

I love the hire, but this is a bad argument. Coach K has done pretty well with similar academic standards at Duke.

thats a worse argument as the duke name alone has quite a bit of pull itself and can recruit on name alone...stanford...not so much

Coach K is special in what he did at Duke. But if you look at his resume prior to Duke and at the beginning of his tenure there, the rantards would be going nuts if we hired him.
