I first get in the bed, get under the sheets, kick my feet up as hard as I can to undo the sheets at the end. Have a pillow between my legs, and have the box fan at the end of the bed with AC on 70.

depends if its at that certain age your wife gets the hot flashes be prepared for the a/c to stay set on 72 degrees 
she will always feel hot you will be freezing looking for blankets

68-70 at night and my Wife and I each sleep with a comforter, no sheet.(I don’t share covers).

Fitted sheet on the bed and a comforter. that's it.
Thermostat set at 70, ceiling fan on and a small fan blowing directly on me.

I sleep with a comforter. Turn the AC nice and low, turn the on, make the room cold and knock myself out.

I sleep in the buff without a sheet or blanket. My SO sleeps in a gown and pulls the sheet and blanket up to her chin.
