I'm not sure what kind of ice maker I have.

I'll check with my kitchen staff and get back to you.

You might be surprised to see how cheap it is to have one of those big arse things filled with bags of ice that are out in front of convenient stores on a rental

I set it up at one of our job sites in KY a couple years ago and remember thinking that it would be economical enough for personal use. So long as you don't mind some big arse machine like that in your garage or back patio.

I got the Opal Nugget Ice Maker for Christmas and like it a lot. Sits on the counter next the the fridge and under the cabinet with our glasses. The ice melts back into the water reservoir, and we have to refill it once per day but it’s pretty easy.

Hosizaki is probably the best and they make a nugget ice maker. Though looking at $2500 to $3000.

I have the “Sonic ice” maker in my new kitchen. Love the ice but that machine is loud and it runs all the time. Seriously seems like it runs four or five hours a day.

My MFing Kenmore Icemaker is not working right at the moment

They can be a pain in the arse. Two weeks ago ours wouldn’t come on the panel wouldn’t light up or anything then after 2 days it magically started working again. Now it makes too much ice it overflows and falls out when you open the door.

Easy fix

There is a thermistor that determines when the bin is full. It is probably bad but they are cheap to replace.

I just fixed my kenmore under counter icemaker a few weeks ago when it quit making ice. They are high maintenance but not all that complicated.

I know a guy that has about 20 high end Scotsman nugget machines. They make about 1000 pounds a day. Slightly used and under warranty still. I can get you in touch with him if you’re serious about buying one. Probably would run around $3000.

They’re the same ones that Sonic uses.
