Landscaping question

Planted 2 30-gallon Natchez Crepe Myrtles in front yard.
The mulch ring around them is a 6 foot diameter circle.
What’s something low maintenance that I can’t pant at the base of crepe myrtle in that circle that will not need to be watered once established, or will need to be watered very rarely?
I have sprinkler system in regular landscaping but I am not running water lines to these 2 circles.

Would knockout roses work? Or do they have to be watered frequently
(After root system is established of course, I will water until then)

I dont know the answer to your question, but I would move that one close to the house before it is too late.
I am fighting two 15 year old Natchez whites that were planted too close. It has come time for drastic measures for the one on the East end of my house.

I never water my knockouts....that damn thing is like a tree now..only 2 years old and already over 6 ft tall...and I deadhead it regularly.

Most people use Blue Leriope, Veragated Leriope, or Daylillies as the plants arranged in a circle around your major landscape points..They are extrememly low maintainance and flowers can be offset just inside of them to accent the circles slope leading up to the tree
