Antique - how were you able to get in touch with all of these families? Rather, what let you know that you needed to reach out?
Dr David Strange, I simply looked up in the phone book, I knew his name (he also played for LSU, as well as his brother). I looked him up because I wanted to make sure the watches were not stolen because I wanted to sell two and keep one.
Bert Jones, I contacted LSU Sports Information and told them the story. They gave him my number. He called within minutes.

I did buy off Goodwill's auction site
They have an 18k gold ring with a 1.5 carat diamond worth over $3000 for auction.
Who the frick gives a 1.5 carat diamond ring to Goodwill?

I have never walked into goodwill, and never will unless I'm homeless.
I drive they after it close and empty boxess into the driveway sometimes.

Maybe. It gives you the option to look something up when you aren’t sure if it is real or what it even is.
If it's a dollar, I'll risk it. If it's hundreds of dollars, I will make sure if I could at least double my money.
I didn't have to look up the chess sets, because I knew Anri was valuable. The pool cues, I risked the $33 each because I recognize quality.

No douchebag, those heels and dress shoes are $150-$250 a pair. She gets them for $15-$20. You ever hear of this stuff called "Lysol".
To each his own. That’s still fricking gross. I go to goodwill for Halloween and that’s about it.

Wow, that's really awesome of you to have done. Lots of people wouldn't. I'm sure Dr David Strange and family were especially glad to be reunited with the stolen stuff.

After a few years, I tried to give him his watch back and he would not take it. Granted, between him, his brother, and dad (that played 4 yrs at LSU and coached for 20 yrs), he had more bowl game watches, rings, and other jewelry than he could shake a stick at. It was cool seeing his dad's 1932 Sugar Bowl ring, LSU's first bowl game.

Charles "Bo" Strange was my knee surgeon when I was a kid, and their sister, Virginia was a cardiologist and my boss when I was a senior in high school.
Three kids, three doctors. And both of the ones I knew were really nice people and good doctors.

Probably my greatest find was the original pano photo of the first game in Tiger Stadium. Granted, I didn't steal it ($1700), but it was amazing. Sold it last year.

More stuff for me to buy.
Trust me, I used to be like you. The only time I had been into a Goodwill was to find a disco Halloween costume when I was in college. Found a sweet white polyester jacket, maroon polyester slacks, and a sweet disco shirt. I looked just like Travolta.
Fifteen years later, I'm dating my now wife, and she is thrifty. Only girl from a family with 6 boys, so she didn't get hand-me-down clothes and they weren't poor. So we're driving through Scott one day and she wants to stop at the Goodwill. I had been single all my life and was making decent money, so dropping $50 to $100 on a nice shirt was no problem to me. I didn't want to get down at the Goodwill. I told her, "I'm not going in there. This is where the poor people shop. I don't want someone to see me in here."
So she convinced me to go in. I go to the men's shirts and start flipping through them. Almost immediately I find a Ralph Lauren Polo pullover (which I loved and still do) that is in perfect condition and my size for $4. I find another Polo shirt and a linen Banana Republic shirt with the tags still on it.
I was hooked. I paid less than $15 for 3 shirts that would normally cost me over $150. She ruined me for retail.

Speaking of risking it, once I went to a garage sale, the lady had 100's (I mean 100's) of Estes (and other brands) rockets, some unbuilt, some built. I had no idea of value but I figured I couldn't lose. I asked what she wanted for all, she thought I was crazy. She says $200 and I took it. Five of the rockets that were still in the boxes, sold for $1500. These were the giant 6' tall rockets, Apollo 11, etc. I sold everything for about $4000.

I collect junk. As do my parents before me. Hell my mom found a pasta maker attachment for her kitchen aid mixer at senior half off day at goodwill. Retail of $150 or so. It’s in my blood.
I bet New Orleans lost a lot of potential goodwill gems and historic first edition stuff in Katrina.
A city as old as that has to have some crazy old and valuable stuff

How do feel about pussy? You gonna date virgins your whole life? Good luck with that.

You’d be surprised to know the most valuable property in the city wasn’t touched by flood waters. Ironically, the stuff you’re talking about (Antiques Roadshow stuff) was spread about town and either abandoned and dozed or picked over by now.

Didn’t you post the picture of that once? I thought you did.

This is one of my best finds. It's a numbered print from Raoul Dufy. It's from his horse racing collection. I saw one on EBay awhile back and the guy was asking $750, but his wasn't numbered. He didn't know anything about it really, nor do I. I could only find that the original is in some museum. Paid $10. There is framing receipt taped on the back from the framing company. Somebody paid $60 to frame it back in the day.
The original is in the Havard Art Museum in Cambridge.

I sold it for what I paid for it, but I also sold my rights to the image, given to me by the family of the photographer.
