From Quora:
quote:

Cats will also kill their young if they feel stressed and unsafe. This sometimes occurs when humans try to move animals who have just given birth to a more convenient and safer place in the home - the animal chose the place they gave birth because that's where they felt safe, so humans moving them to a place they didn't choose (no matter how comfortable or safe that place is) can stress a mother animal out and cause her to kill her young.

This can also happen if the mother and babies are disturbed too much. Mother wants babies to be safely 'hidden' from everyone but the people and animals she trusts, so if the owners start allowing lots of visitors to come and see the new kittens (or puppies) then the mother can get very stressed and kill her own offspring if she cannot move them somewhere she feels safer.

YOU are the reason she ate the kittens.

Did you actually witness her eating them or just see them gone and assume she did?

It happens.

If it is an older cat, there may be a hormonal imbalance at play. With younger cats, it tends to be an extreme stress reaction.

Sounds like it, if he just moved them because if the rain. That was an interesting quote. It story is like OP says, that’s probably it.

I have a cat, but she’s old and fixed. After 16 years indoors, I can safely say I’ll never have another one. The strays I see hanging out in the neighborhood are enough company for me. No attachment.

He must of eaten every girl I have been with clitourous because I sure haven’t found one. Clitourous is either a myth or cosmo eats them all.

Is the cat a cannibal or lesbian?

It wasn't rain. She had them in an area where my catfish hatchery drains out and it stays wet this time of year. They looked pitiful. She is a very young cat so I guess it stressed her too much

Cats, dogs, and many other animals will kill the sick or weak young to ensure the survival of the stronger ones. It can also be due to stress, as stated above.

I used to do "voluntold" work at a dog shelter. Some of the dogs there would do the same. Don't know why they do, but it's weird and really disturbing..

It's kind of counter productive. "My children may not be safe here, so I'll just eat them rather than chance it"

A neighbor's cat did this once. I figured it was malnourished because they only fed it dog food, which doesn't have all the nutrients cats need.

Cats always do this when you touch their newborn kittens. They rely on smell and you put your scent on them. The mother then smelled a threat or possibly food and eliminated it.

I've seen it a few times with our barn cats when i was a kid. I remember finding kittens and touching only to find the mother chewing a carcass later. Kinda confusing to a 6 year old

Have you ever had teenagers? It's the main reason animals eat their young.
