So what?
Delta Airlines can go from NYC to Chicago in 90 minutes.

Correct
American haters who want massive transfers of money from the private to public sectors are easily impressed by authoritarian nations that steal technology. Go figure

t seems crazy that, at this point, the best high-speed offering in China is eons more advanced and effective than its US equivalent.
Why? Air travel is a much better solution.

American Airlines goes from NY to Chicago in 2.0 hours. Does that show how far behind the US China is?

This is why Trump won and will keep winning. The writer and others truly believe that there is nothing between NY, Chicago, San Francisco that is worth anything more than a tax base.
Fly-over country.
Slow down, Baw. The folks that you think "run" this place are quite different than the ones that actually keep it running.
Get to know a few.

What a load of tripe.
China is an amalgam of open sewers, an oppressive nanny state and swarming clouds of pollution.

They steal technology from every other country and then produce second rate versions of whatever they stole. And often whatever they stole is old. I wouldn’t want to ride on those trains. They’re just Japanese bullet train knockoffs from the 1990s done poorly.
The Chinese have a camera lens company that makes knockoffs of Japanese Canon lenses from 28 years ago, and they’re mediocre. They had 28 fricking years to do their best to exactly copy a Canon lens made by the racially superior Japanese and they couldn’t pull it off.
Not only are the Chinese totally incapable of innovation, they actually suck at copying. frick them.

They STILL CAN’T EVEN MAKE THEIR OWN JET ENGINES.
Anyone who thinks they’re more advanced is an idiot.

"Bullet" trains. 4.5 hours, $100. Big whoop.
In two weeks I'm travelling from New Orleans to Pittsburgh for Memorial Day weekend. That'd be a 16 hour drive.
I'm flying, nonstop, 2 hour trip.
$118 bucks-- roundtrip.

Is that a two hour flight?

Let's first compare costs between similar modes of transportation in the US.
Plane vs Amtrak
Keep in mind that it would be reasonable to assume a bullet train would cost significantly more than Amtrak.
New orleans to DC
Amtrak:
-round trip
-2 adults
-Saver, coach seats
-25 hrs 53 min each way
*** $520.00 ***
Plane
-round trip
-2 adults
-2 hrs-ish each way
*** $584.00 ***
Plane travel is about 13 times faster than Amtrak and only $64 more.
An expensive bullet train would probably cost significantly more than plane travel and still be slower.
I do not see that translating into a viable successful model in the US. JMO

Eminent domain is very expensive, have to pay market rates and still fight MULTIPLE lawsuits.

Before we start sucking their dicks...
I rode the maglev in Shanghai for fun. For $10 you can ride for about 15 minutes from the airport to a random arse station where you then have to grab a cab to get to downtown.
Ridership is abysmal.

Just out of my curiosity, what's the purpose of sharing this?
I'm assuming you shared this in part because you at the very least agree with the article (which alone puts your IQ between 70-80)
But is this also supposed to be a "gotcha" moment on Trump being President? I don't get it. Is it supposed to be his fault that we're behind or are you really just this retarded?
Do you hate America?
Help me out

They’re the ones who are behind. They can build airframes, but they can’t build their own jet engines. They have to buy them from Russia. They can’t machine the turbofan blades. True story. Those frickers can do nothing but copy. This is just them copying Japan from 60 years ago. Japan is their daddy. China is just Asian Mexico. The Japanese are the Aryans of Asia.

Is that true? I mean I know it is advanced technology, but they are VERY smart and China certainly has all the metals, rare metals, and rare minerals to make the necessary alloys.

Why are we allowing the Chinese to build a train that goes from NY to Chicago?
This ain’t the 1800s!
