Catholics are a distinct minority in N. La., and know their place.

Born in North. Live in South (BR). There is a reason a majority of the state’s population live along I-10 or below. The only thing I miss about North LA is my family. And most of the time I’m trying to get them to come see me.

Roads are better. Honestly not as much culcha, they love Jesus but they’re just Protestants, people up here can cook contrary to the OT’s narrative.

Only bad thing is they get weird about no alcohol sales on Sunday in some places and are a little too kid friendly. Otherwise it’s fine. Get over yourselves, insecure baws with your 150’s.

I’ve lived in South, Central, and North La. No it’s not that bad, although it did get much worse up here after Katrina when the refugees never returned home. Youll find good people and shitty people in both parts though.

If you're moving from south Louisiana, why would you stay in Louisiana at all?

If we're going by cultural differences here, everything from Pine Bluff, Ark. to Alexandria should be its own state because there isn't a gnat's hair difference in the culture of those regions.

When I think of North Louisiana I just think of endless pine trees and not much else.

The best thing about N. La. is there are nearly no people from S. La. here.

Born and raised in Monroe. I have also lived in Shreveport for 1 year and Ruston for 5 years.

Moved to Denham and have worked in BR for the last 5 years.

I will tell you this about suburban Monroe and Ruston -- you can leave your vehicle unlocked, or your home unlocked and be fine.

You can get anywhere you want to in 15 minutes. Tops. There's no crazy sitting in traffic all day long and wrecks everywhere.

If it takes you 30 minutes to get to work, it's because you live 30 miles from your job.

I've always associated South LA (except for some areas) with filth and scum.
North LA (again with some exceptions) as being cleaner and less filth.

Having said that, all of Louisiana is less than desirable. It's just a matter of to what extent.

I have gone to North Louisiana several times and in my experience, I think there is a huge difference. Actually, there is a big difference. South Louisiana is cajun and catholic while north Louisiana is redneck and baptist.

Just due to the people who ended up settling in South Louisiana, we have a uniquely diverse group of people that you don't have anywhere else. And there are actually dry parishes in North Louisiana.
