Per Ben Volin and Nick Underhill on Twitter
quote:
The move will create $3 million in cap space if Fleener is designated as a post-June 1 release but still leave behind $5 million in dead money

Underhill just retweeted the same guy.

big cap cost for this year, makes little sense to me.

Guess they're going to allow Watson to make Lester look like the fool again.

Well shite we could have saved what? 5 million more? If we did it before March 1st?!

Never know what the guys are up to or not up to in the off season.
I remember going wtf when Jr left.

I don't understand the timing of the move, someone will have to explain it to me.
I thought it would happen if we made a big signing at the position in FA or drafted someone, but we only signed Watson.
Can he be designated as a Post June 1st Cut and save money?

FWIW heard he hasn’t passed concussion protocol still. If true it makes sense.

I seriously doubt we have interest in Dez

Wasn't a portion of his salary guaranteed in February? So we basically cost us a few million by not cutting him a few months ago?

to be fair, we hadnt signed Graham (who we were after) nor Watson at that point. And the draft hadnt happened.
So at the time, Fleener was our guy.

TE FA market next year looks BAD, yikes. Wonder what the long-termplan is

And we thought Graham was soft. Fleener had the soft rep in Indy and continued here. I spose if your bell gets rung enough it gets harder to focus. I thought he would catch a ton down the seam. Huge disappointment.
