Looking for advice from the locals who know a thing or two about dining. What's good from the menu?

Tough call... have had good meals and bad meals at both...

I’d say Ruffino’s probably

Both are good. It really depends on the type of food you're in the mood to have at the time. I have an addiction to Galatoire's oysters rock, so right now, I'd probably go with that, but on another given day, I'd go with Ruffino's.

I like the atmosphere in Nola much better, but my meals in BR have been fine.

I thought the consensus on this board was that Galatoire’s BR was mediocre at best?

Galatoires BR is good, but I find it to be overpriced and the ambiance is lacking. All in all, Juban's is a better experience if you ask me.

Love u. Hysterical.

I’m not mad at Galatoire’s n BR, but would choose Ruffinos over the BR location for a dinner recommendation, if asked. Lunch? It’s fine. Also agree w Jubans for dinner over G’s. And Diguilo’s, Mansur’s, & Maison Lacour over it!

I find both of those places to be mediocre. Ruffino's is the better of the two.

I prefer both of them over Juban's, which I feel is vastly overrated.

at Ruffinos I would say the Fish Katie is one of their signature dishes or even the cedar plank redfish which is similar. Have to get the crabmeat cheesecake appetizer. I really love their lasagna also.

Very different menus that are both delicious. Personally, I prefer Ruffino's for the crawfish cheesecake app.

What is a “board consensus” anyway? Where exactly is that information? Who makes up the consensus if the entire board doesn’t give an opinion? What makes the world go ‘round?

I think I’ve only been to G’s for lunch. I can’t recall eating there at dinner. However, the oysters rock call me at various times of the day.

In fairness, there are opinions the board as a whole mostly agrees on. Anyway, I’ve had decent meals at both. Had a couple bad meals at Ruffinos, but the atmosphere is far better than Galatoires.

Honestly a lot of people just repeat shite other people say without knowing anything

I've even seen people admit it a few years ago. Some dude was talking about the inconsistency of the food at a place he had never eaten.
