WTF. This is a terrible take. You do know who the rams are right? 1 winning season since 2004 and their stigma is gone? But 1 season means nothing for our defense? (btw with a bad defense we were never as awful as them)

The difference is that was a different regime; we are the same regime that had the shitty defenses. So far, that coaching staff has very little you can say anything negative about.

quote:

at some point sure but literally nobody thinks that is happening next year.

Literally no one? Are you literally sure about that?

quote:

The saints are young... Outside of the QB. Come again.

When I say a "young team" I'm considering everything. We are fked when brees retires or drops off; unless we win the lottery with a pick in the next 2 drafts. Everyone else on the team could stay on their current curves of improvement, or better, and we would still be completely fked. Their qb, coach, AND core is younger.

You are trying to make me seem completely off base with hyperbole, but if you look at the odds someone just posted; it is a very very close discussion. I'm pretty sure, there is not LITERALLY no one that thinks the Rams are better than us. I for one, would definitely argue for saints, but I'm a saints fan.

The length of the contract is something I did overlook, and that is a very valid argument if it plays out like that. This is a pro for saints that I did not consider; and yes, I could see him flopping no matter where he chooses, so the guaranteed sum is the main thing I would think he cares about.

Find me one person that expects Brees to fall off a cliff next year? I will wait.

Are we though? I would say this was true 2 or 3 years ago. The offense is more predicated on the run than its ever been. Sure, Brees being Brees is a large part of that but still.

Not saying we are a good team without him, just not sure we'll bottom out.

They have a younger QB who is still unproven. That is nice. Why would Suh at 31 care about that?

Coach? Again why would Suh care about that. No way Sean retires before he hangs up his cleats

Core? Cam, Thomas, Kamara, Ingram, Rankins, Lattimore, Crawley, Williams, Davis, Armstead, Ram
All younger than Suh

If those odds are correct I suspect that has a lot to do with the divisions they play in. Much easier road to a home playoff game in the West then the South next year. Unless The panthers fall off a cliff and the 49ers really improve. Which could be possible.

There's a 76.6937% chance these odds are 100.00% correct.

I don't understand this. What does it mean? When did I say that nobody thinks the Rams are better?

Frick this guy. He’s going to Oakland now. What a joke.

Time to move on and focus our money elsewhere

Dude pick a team before preseason.
Why on earth would he want raiders when I thought it was between the saints Titans Seattle and Rams

Only we’re not. We aren’t exactly the one man show we were a few years ago. With a running game and improving defense a case Keemun of the world would’ve had success on our team last season. Hell I don’t think Brees three for 30 tds.

Seahawks and Oakland visit would go against the narrative that he wants to play for a team Super Bowl ready.

Exactly he says he wants to win know but to me he wants the best of both worlds to get his money and win which you have to choose one or the other at this point.

Again with the hyperbole.
quote:

Find me one person that expect Brees to fall off a cliff next year? I will wait.

I said drop off not "fall off a cliff", which is not unreasonable to expect with his age, and it wouldn't need to be very much at all for the sake of this argument, especially when these 2 teams we are comparing are neck and neck.

quote:

Not saying we are a good team without him, just not sure we'll bottom out.

This is fair; however I still think we are fricked, we shall see; I don't see your view as unreasonable by any sense of the word; we could still be a decent team if everything works out. For this thread, we are comparing our team directly to the rams though; and I would think it much more likely we are worse then them when we lose brees than better than them all things considered if we are looking at it in a strictly handicapped sense.

quote:

This whole thing hinges on when Drew's curve and Goff's curve intersect, which could be tomorrow, it could be 2020; just depends who you talk to.
The sentence with literally in it was simply poking fun at the sentence where you said literally no one thinks drew will fall off next year. I could find like 1000 posts from this season on this very board that say he dropped off 2 years ago so obviously that is foolish.

quote:

Not literally no one? So everyone?

Uh what. "Literally no one" would mean no one(0); not "literally no one" would mean at least more than no one(1 person would qualify). So if one person thinks drew is going to drop off, not literally no one would think drew is going to drop off. It was worded retarded like that on purpose so I could throw literally in there one more time.

One more disclaimer, because I feel like you guys just see me saying negative things about saints, and ignoring the point. I think the saints are better, but I'm a saints fan. You can't tell me there is NO ONE in the country that feels the rams are more likely to succeed in the next 1-3 years than us. Why is vegas trying to lose money with their superbowl odds? Hint: THEY ARENT

He wants the money. Guessing he is not generating the huge offers he expected and is trying to milk the process to find one.

And do you believe that? I cannot fathom that money has not come up at all yet. The tour is getting stretched too much with teams jumping in every few days. Appears that the agent is drumming up visits as the offers are not lucrative enough yet.

He said from jump he was going to take his time and make a lot of visits.

I also don't buy that money hasn't come up at all, as I feel his agent is at least getting ball park figures, but I do believe that specifics may not be being discussed until he finishes his visits and starts to narrow things down.

And I believe he's going this route for two reasons:

First is the fact that he jumped and signed with Mia during the legal "tampering" period iirc, so he didn't take any trips. This wound up biting him as the Dolphins ran a 3-4 and were not changing the scheme to accommodate their expensive new addition.

This lead to friction between he and the coaches (and also likely some teammate). The next year they made a switch to a 4-3.

I think he really wants to avoid going somewhere where he feels he won't be used how he wants to be. So he's really getting in there and trying to get the vision of what these teams have in mind for him.

The second reason is that this may be his last chance while he's in his prime to go for a ring. I'm sure the money is important, but I do believe he is dead serious about wanting to win.

If he retired today he'd still be set money wise with all his business ventures. But if he goes to a team and wallows in mediocrity his football legacy will continue to be him stomping on guys' heads. I think he'd like to turn that around and try to go out with some playoff wins, and hopefully and ring to go with it.

Steve Geller just said on the WWL morning sports news that he puts the odds of suh signing with the Saints at 40%.

Not much importance to his opinion but I’ll take any positive sniff I can get...
